The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a Health Strategies Coordinator in our Glen Allen, VA office!
This position will provide program support that helps ensure effective execution of American Heart Association Health Strategy plans and priorities in Virginia, including volunteer management, communications, media relations and content creation.
Major Duties:
Marketing and Communications support for Virginia (except Northern Virginia)
- Manage the local social media accounts (Facebook/Instagram by markets and Virginia-wide twitter)
- Responsible for running reports on social media engagement and sponsor activation via social platforms
- Use design software, to support MAA Digital Director and Virginia Marketing & Communications (MarCom) staff in creating digital content
- Assist with press releases/media alerts and pitching story ideas to the media across Virginia
- Use media tracking tools to track and share media hits with public, volunteers, staff and for sponsor ROI reports
- Assist with preparing presentations and other marketing/communication materials including flyers, digital graphics and videos
- Execute activities for market priorities, cause marketing, community and sponsor activation
- Manage Little Hats/Big Hearts initiative for Virginia
Health Strategies Staff Support
Develop and lead the Richmond Health Strategies volunteer network including:
- Provide event and logistics support for MarCom and Community Impact meetings and events
- Uses design templates to communicate news, successes and activities to internal and external partners to raise visibility of Health Strategy team efforts, and also raise awareness of mission activity across Virginia
- Act as liaison to office volunteers/interns for Health Strategies
- Volunteer recruitment and outreach
- Management of e-newsletter/volunteer correspondence in Exact Target and Google Calendar
- Fulfillment of resources/materials requests
- Manage events/speaker requests including scheduling of volunteers and resources
Database management, Internal/external communications, Administrative tasks
- Establish and maintain superior customer service relations with volunteers and donors by providing professional and friendly assistance within best practice guidelines, with proactive resolution of issues or needs
- Keep current with Affiliate accounting practices and is responsible for coding external billings, expense reports, and donations handling, check requests and other Finance activities as directed
- Tracks ambassador activities and pulls tracking reports as assigned
- Responsible for ordering supplies, paying invoices, data entry and other administrative duties as needed
- Participate in weekly MarCom team calls and other Health Strategies meetings as appropriate
- Utilizes existing national and affiliate materials, products and recruitment tools. Learn and work with any additional specialized software required by department(s)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Intermediate-advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, and basic familiarity with Microsoft office suite. Experience with PowerPoint and database management is desired. Familiarity with Adobe or other design software helpful. Will be trained on Sprinklr digital content program, media relations database, Canva, Magisto and other content creation tools.
- Ability to work in a team environment and interact with all levels of American Heart Association staff, volunteers and the public. This includes ability and willingness to build and nurture relationships within and outside the American Heart Association. This also includes the ability to work cooperatively with others to leverage resources to achieve common goals.
- Knowledge of and skill in general office procedures, report preparation, proofreading and attention to detail.
- Experience with volunteer management.
- Proven background and willingness to work in an atmosphere requiring flexibility and change.
Required Experience
