The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a Director of Recruitment in Richmond, VA!

This position is responsible for overseeing the recruitment process to include sourcing, interviewing, and the selection and acquisition of highly skilled, qualified talent, as well as identifying sourcing strategies and best practices in support of the Mid-Atlantic Affiliate’s strategic HR plan.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Consults with hiring managers to design strategic staffing initiatives to ensure talent acquisition goals are successfully met.
  • Manages the entire recruiting process from soup to nuts including development of job postings, management of recruiting requisitions, pre-employment assessments, scheduling and logistics of all interviews between candidates & hiring managers, dispositioning candidates, and initiating the onboarding of new employees.
  • Responsible for making all verbal offers and negotiating the offer terms with identified candidates to include salary, start date, and relocation and hiring bonuses when applicable.
  • Knowledge of the MS Suite, applicant tracking systems and on-boarding systems (iCIMS and Workday preferred).
  • Responsible for job postings and ad placement for current openings and monitors job boards to ensure postings are current.
  • Administers assessments, credit, and background checks as needed.
  • Makes recommendations for HR budget to accommodate staffing needs.
  • Champions special projects as assigned that enhance and improve the HR process.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and interpersonal relations.
  • Ability to interact well with all levels of the organization including volunteers.
  • Ability to address and resolve HR concerns according to the Affiliate policies and EEO guidelines.
  • Knowledge of employment law, with expertise as it relates to selection procedures and compliance.
  • Research and recommend new sources for active and passive candidate recruiting while continually building networks to find qualified passive candidates for commonly open roles.
  • Utilize multiple recruiting channels to source candidates, including job boards, social networking media, professional organizations, search engines, etc.
  • Other duties and projects may be assigned to the role, which provide general assistance as needed to support the mission of the American Heart Association.
Educational Background: 
BA or BS in business administration, public administration or human relations or equivalent experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and interpersonal relations.
  • Ability to interact well with all levels of the organization including volunteers.
  • Ability to address and resolve HR concerns according to the Affiliate policies and EEO guidelines.
  • Ability to effectively manage high volume of open positions.
  • Knowledge of employment law, with expertise as it relates to selection procedures and compliance.
  • Demonstrated success with creative and innovative candidate sourcing.
  • Experience in sourcing and recruiting practices including candidate engagement and pipelining through social media tools including utilizing platforms such as LinkedIn Recruiter.
  • Experience in identifying and implementing appropriate and innovative tools as well as “best practices” for sourcing, candidate screening, pipelining, and tool.

Required Experience:

  • At least two (2) years sourcing and recruiting experience with proven experience managing 18+ positions during peak periods.
