Areas of Responsibility: 

Operational

  • Responsible for the overall management of the Habitat ReStore
  • Drive donations, sales and profits of the ReStore to further the local affiliate mission.
  • Demonstrate and train staff in outstanding service to customers, donors, volunteers and others.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with potential and existing donors, including individuals, businesses, community and church groups to increase quality and quantity of merchandise donations.
  • Understand and communicate to all ReStore positions the Key Performance Metrics for all ReStore operations and how they relate/contribute to positive customer experience and high quality operations.
  • Ensure all personnel understand and can effectively communicate the Habitat ReStore, local affiliate and HFH missions to members of the public.
  • Effectively manage Habitat ReStore assets to ensure safety of employees, volunteers, customers and others, ensuring that licenses and other required information are maintained properly for government bodies and others as appropriate.

Public Relations, Marketing and Advertising

  • Work with the Affiliate staff to develop marketing strategies tailored to both donors and customers —including social media, email newsletters and other promotional strategies.
  • Assume direct responsibility in procuring product donations and maintaining appropriate merchandise levels to drive sales.
  • Develop strategies to grow the business by actively establishing and leveraging community relationships.
  • Prepare and deliver (or supervise/participate in the delivery of) presentations in individual and group settings to create and expand long-term mutually beneficial relationships with current and prospective donors, civic/business organizations, governmental bodies and other non-profit organizations.
  • Plan and host events with local partners to increase awareness of opportunities to donate and shop at the ReStore.
  • Participate in developing, rolling out and measuring marketing and advertising programs to increase donations, sales and volunteer participation.
  • Develop and present proposals to the COO for direct approval or support for presentation to the Board.

Staff & Volunteer Management

  • Hire, train, supervises and supports the ReStore Assistant Managers and their teams in the following processes: staff scheduling, donation pickups and intake, pricing, material handling, volunteer management, customer service, merchandising, sales growth, etc.
  • Evaluate, recognize and reward staff performance.
  • Work with designated affiliate functions, when required, to address violations of policy including safety, poor job performance or misconduct in a timely and appropriate manner. Properly document incidents, and develop corrective actions. Resolve situations involving volunteers in consultation with the volunteer manager and the COO, when required.
  • Work with the Affiliate Staff to recruit volunteers, emphasizing local volunteer retention and the development of a core volunteer program.

Finance and Administration

  • Develop and execute goals through Key Performance Metrics that meet budgeted targets and generate revenue in support of serving more families in the community.
  • Effectively manage Habitat ReStore assets to ensure safety of employees, volunteers, customers and others, ensuring that licenses and other required information are maintained properly for government bodies and others as appropriate.
  • Develop an annual budget in conjunction with the Chief Operating Officer, and meets budgetary goals, including gross sales and net revenue.
  • Implement and monitor systems for daily cash transactions and deposits.
  • Provide accurate accounting records of revenues and expenses as required or requested.
  • Approve employee recording of time worked.
  • Approve and ensure accurate coding and submit payable invoices on a timely basis. Communicate questionable invoices to Accounts Payable and ensure expenditures are held within acceptable limits.

Reporting and Communications

  • Lead with honesty, integrity, and knowledge to foster the Mission and Vision of Habitat for Humanity, with each decision made.
  • Communicate with the COO, as well as the President/CEO and Board of Trustees, regularly regarding store performance.
  • Provide reports of designated activities including but not limited to: sales, expenses, outreach activities and other areas of interest to executive director.
  • Keep COO informed appropriately and timely of operational and financial matters.
Educational Background: 
A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Specific Habitat ReStore experience a plus.
  • 5+ years of retail management experience, or with increasing levels of responsibility, preferably in retail or nonprofit settings.
  • Excellent oral and written communication in English.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Self-motivated individual who believes that diversity is a key to success.
  • Motivation to solve problems creatively and as a part of a team.
  • Familiarity with basic math calculations, Microsoft Office, and POS systems.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Position is fulltime. Competitive annual salary will commensurate with experience, with an annual range of $45,000 – $60,000. No relocation assistance is available. Health benefits are available. A successful candidate must successfully pass drug screening, criminal background check and sex offender screenings.
