Seeking an Assistant Director for our dynamic Health District – one who will bring successful management experience, understanding of key health issues, and a strong commitment to being a key part of the foundation of a fast-paced organization providing diverse health services to improve the health of our community.

The Community:  An hour north of Denver, Fort Collins is home to Colorado State University and a wealth of cultural and recreational opportunities.  Often rated as one of the best places to live in the U.S., Fort Collins boasts a strong economy, a thriving music and arts scene, and a vibrant historic downtown with numerous dining establishments.  An outstanding school system and many youth recreation opportunities make the area ideal for raising a family.  Nearby are national forests and Rocky Mountain National Park, which are prime locations for hiking, camping, fishing, and whitewater rafting.  Fort Collins features miles of walking & biking trails.

Areas of Responsibility: 

The Assistant Director is responsible for directing designated Health District Programs, and overseeing the following functions of the Health District:  Human Resources, contracts and compliance, legislative and regulatory analysis and input, resource development, planning and implementation of special/new projects or programs, and more.  Key tasks include program development, management, and evaluation; staff supervision and management; budgeting and financial management; application of personnel/HR practices and laws; planning; policy and procedures development; staying informed about issues impacting community health and health services.    

Educational Background: 
Master’s degree in relevant field (e.g., health or human services administration, public administration, public health, social sciences)
Skills/Experience: 

At least two years prior experience at the manager or director level; and at least three years prior experience performing essential duties in a health or human services setting.  Special consideration given for significant experience in HR, familiarity and experience with legislative processes, comprehensive understanding of relevant health issues, etc.

Compensation/Benefits: 

The Health District offers benefits to eligible employees.  Additional coverage for dependents of eligible employees may be purchased.

Health

Currently, we have 3 basic plan options available to our employees for medical coverage. 

Dental

The Health District has a mandatory group dental plan for eligible employees.

Vision

A vision plan is available to employees.  The Health District does not contribute towards the monthly premium for this coverage.

Retirement

The Health District offers a 401a to eligible employees.  The Health District contributes 5% and the employee is required to contribute 3%.  There is also a voluntary 457 plan available for the employee to designate an amount that they wish to contribute subject to the annual maximum amount allowable.

Holidays

Currently, we have 9 paid holidays available to our employees along with 2 floating holidays.

Flexible paid time off

Time off with pay is available to eligible employees to use as they choose for vacation, sick leave, or other personal needs.  Flex time is earned and varies depending upon the number of hours worked weekly and the number of service years.

Employees working 30 hours or more receive 100% coverage for their premiums.  Premiums for regular part time employees (between 20 and 29 hours per week) will be prorated according to the number of hours worked.
