The Northern Arizona Climate Change Alliance (NAZCCA.org) is seeking a Grass Roots Organizer for Coconino County to further grow our community focus on slowing climate change and promoting renewables. Consulting closely with the concerned NAZCCA board, and other community organizers, the new community organizer as an independent contractor will bring residents together to engage increasingly around climate issues. The geographic area spans Coconino County, especially Flagstaff and Sedona. The CO will have a deep concern and passion for renewable energy. The CO will help to inform and empower members of the community to take actions around the climate and improving energy forms to benefit the various communities in CATS or climate action teams. This requires being out in the field building relationships, organizing events with local volunteers including filmshowings, talks, tabling, doorknocks, trainings--developng a grass roots movement. The CO will work with current or new lead supporters of these CATs in Coconino County. Preferred, the applicant will have prior experience in community building, working with volunteers. We believe change for the better for new energy and for the climate will come from a concerned and organized community. The compensation for services of the week begin at or exceed $1000 per week with hours averaging 40 per week. Benefits include a flexible schedule, paid time off, and relocation assistance. Most services will be directed at community engagement directly with members of the community.

must have a US valid drivers license and car with compensation for mileage after 300 miles per month.

should have prior experience in working with people under a passion for climate mixed with patience to bring together a community at the grassroots to slow down the climate change and reverse it. Important is to motivate, empower and train volunteers to lead.

IN the process, two mentors will work with you. These mentors are members of NAZCCA's board.
OUr service contract is reviewed annually and we recognize the need for more consultants as we grow Currently we have two other consultants servicing the counties of Yavapai and aPACHE. We have focused on grass roots engagement but we need now to focus on building teams. Your skills and personality will help. Extended leaves are possible. Billing rate depends on skill set near 25 per hour or near 4400 monthly. This job leaves great room for innovation and creativity.
