The Specialist, Business Systems Analyst provides internal consulting for business process improvements utilizing technology and leading technology initiatives for multiple business units.
The primary responsibilities of the Specialist, Business Systems Analyst include technology project management; research and analysis of business systems and business processes; elicitation and documentation of business requirements and technical specifications; identification, testing, and implementation of technology solutions in collaboration with IT colleagues; and recommendations for process improvement. The individual serves as a subject matter expert with different areas of the system and business based on experience and expertise of implemented technology solutions. In addition, s/he participates in IT testing for system upgrades and serves as 2nd level support in partnership with the IT Application Support team.
The Specialist, Business Systems Analyst works within the IT department to further the strategic goal of promoting off-the-shelf software solutions, where applicable, and confers with department heads, key staff, and/or outside consultants to develop a detailed understanding of user needs.
- Lead initiatives for IT providing business analysis and identification, testing, and implementation of technical solutions. Participate in and/or lead project meetings, document requirements, and investigate, define, and document technical solutions working with developers where applicable. Leverage project management tools to develop and execute project plan and schedule. Advise on strategic business direction and consequences of action/inaction. 70%
- Serve as a subject matter expert with different areas of the system and business based on experience and expertise of implemented technology solutions. Test system upgrades and enhancements related to technology and business expertise. 15%
- Provide 2nd level support for areas of subject matter expertise in partnership with the IT Application Support team. 15%
- Minimum 3-5 years in related business analysis and/or business technology experience
- Strong customer service skills
- Strong analytical skills and keen ability to interpret business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements
- Experience with tier-one applications, relational databases, and data warehouses
- Excellent computer and database management skills and proficiency in MS Office with superior Excel and Access skills; experience building and running queries
- Able to successfully handle multiple competing priorities and support multiple users
- Proactive, internally motivated, results-oriented self-starter; thrives in hands-on working environment with excellent story-telling and problem solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to be a liaison among a diverse group of business units, support teams, subject matter experts, technology teams, managers, and executives
- Able to work independently with users and lead projects through to successful completion as well as enthusiastically participate as a collaborative, thoughtful and value-add team player
- Strong work ethic and organizational skills

- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Experience with ERP software, including accounting, purchasing, and HR systems
- Proficient in Microsoft Project, LiquidPlanner, and/or other project management tools
