Research Manager, New Business Development

The Research Manager will be responsible for conducting and overseeing all facets of Private Foundation research to advance a variety of agency-wide funding priorities. To that end, he/she will assist SFP’s New Business team to develop research templates and complete in-depth research on Foundation prospects, as well as work closely with the New Business team to develop outreach strategy for viable prospects. The Research Manager is key to developing a robust pipeline of new prospects and partners.  This position is part-time and will be based three days a week in our Fairfield office.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Research active and prospective donors- 80%

  • Research external biographical, philanthropic and functional information of Save the Children’s top Foundations prospects, utilizing a variety of research tools and databases.
  • Support and collaborate on outreach and strategy development for assigned prospects.

Data Management- 20%

  • Coordinate with Prospect Management/Operations team to update and maintain prospect/donor records in Blackbaud CRM.
  • Provide support, as needed, to the Senior Director and Director of New Business in the management of their key foundation partnerships and prospecting activities.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree
Skills/Experience: 
  • Three to five (3-5) years relevant experience, preferably with prior prospect research or fundraising experience
  • High School or Technical/Vocational Degree
  • Microsoft Office proficiency, online and hard copy research resources, and database experience.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize and meet frequent deadlines.
  • Proven skills in understanding, analyzing and synthesizing high volumes of information.
  • Good writing and communication skills.
