The role of Manager, Stewardship & Communications is critical to the cultivation and retention of high-value donors in the Individual Philanthropy Group (IPG). She/he supports donor relations and outreach to supporters who give at major and principal gift levels annually to the organization. Working with the Associate Director of Stewardship & Communications, this position is responsible for writing and managing a variety of donor communications to maximize private donor interest and sustain partnerships with Save the Children. This position also coordinates with the writing team, program experts and across departments to ensure consistency in content and approach.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Write private donor communications, primarily custom thank you letters and emails from the Office of the President, including new business outreach, special program profiles and other donor stewardship materials. Work closely with IPG fundraisers to personalize correspondence. Collaborate with Acknowledgements team to develop templates for a variety of program priorities and emergencies. (60%)
  • Support IPG salon events (small gatherings of 20-40 donors), midsize events (100-150 donors) and the annual Gala with writing deliverables that include program copy, talking points and post-event custom acknowledgements from the Office of the President to VIP’s. (25%)
  • Contribute to the creation of published reports (Mission Support, Year-End Highlights and topline program profiles) that leverage contributions for undesignated support and inform donors and supporters about Save the Children’s mission. Work with the marketing division, writing team, program staff and country offices to develop and deliver final products. (10%)
  • Coordinate with Stewardship, Acknowledgements and IPG fundraisers to ensure that all communications reflect current giving, past support and interactions as recorded in BBEC and other agency records. Also, perform other duties as may be required. (5%)
Educational Background: 
High School or Technical/Vocational Degree
Skills/Experience: 
  • You have a minimum 3-5 years' experience as a writer/editor
  • Must be able to research, synthesize extensive information and exercise critical thinking ability.
  • Need to be organized and capable of multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented and ability to meet high standards essential.
  • Understand global development issues and relationship to agency’s programs and priorities
  • Excellent research, writing and communication skills needed
  • Able to describe technical programs, complex initiatives and impact for children in ways that resonate for individual donors and motivate them to continue/increase their support.
  •  Must be able to work closely with supervisor and collaborate across the agency.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office essential.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree, English, Communications, Journalism or related degree
  • Writing/editing experience within a national/global agency and/or non-profit organization
  • Knowledge of non-profit fundraising
