The Manager, Financial Reporting & Analysis is responsible for managing financial reporting processes. This includes the preparation and submission of financial reports, advance requests, and invoices for awards, within their assigned portfolio. He/she is responsible for ensuring that all reports/invoices sent are complete, accurate, and submitted in a timely manner. This role will coordinate across divisions to ensure that the setup for financial reporting is in line with both donor expectations and the capabilities of our systems and processes. The position is responsible in maintaining the appropriate document support, updating relevant award management systems and monitoring payments. This position will be to provide financial expertise and analysis for a region based portfolio of awards, with an integrated and collaborative approach to managing our funding. This position is key in ensuring that prompt and accurate financial data is sent to donors and that Save the Children continues a strong reputation for financial reporting.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Preparation & submission of Donor Reports (50%)

  • Collaborating across divisions to advise on most appropriate setup for reporting to donors
  • Monthly, quarterly and/or semi-annual preparation of accurate, timely financial reports & invoices
  • Review of any country office prepared reports for accuracy
  • Analysis and reconciliation of detailed transactions identifying any necessary adjustments
  • Tracking of payments due and follow up as needed on receivables
  • Upload reports as needed in donor mandated systems
  • Post reports on shared drive and Award Management Systems when required

Financial Analysis & Support (20%)

  • Maintenance of reclassification/adjustment inbox for assigned portfolio ensuring JVs are prepared and adjustments made in a timely manner
  • Ensure Indirect Costs charges to awards are reconciled on a monthly basis and adjusted in the ledger
  • Identify and process any necessary adjustment as result of award analysis
  • Reconcile payment received on an individual award basis, work with larger team on country office locally received funds
  • Advising on grant closeout and support business teams in closeout adjustments for awards

Information management (15%)

  • Participate in LOA review and dashboard development for assigned portfolio
  • Ensure reports are archived on the shared drive and AMS
  • Propose ways to improve AMS and Agresso for increased efficiency

Training and TA (15%)

  • Participate in the development and delivery of trainings on donor compliance and reporting requirements
  • Conduct TA visits to Save the Children International Country Offices as may be needed
Educational Background: 
A minimum of a high school diploma is required.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience required
  • USG funding knowledge and experience
  • Experience working in general ledger and financial systems
  • Experience in applying and interpreting regulations, policies and procedures
  • Attention to detail and experience in overseeing/managing multiple projects across divisions
  • Prompt/ accurate delivery of information, and ability to prioritize multiple deadlines
  • Able to build effective relationships within peer workgroup
  • Financial Management experience required
  • Exercise independent judgment and discretion on significant matters related to functional area
  • Able to work with minimal supervision but still keeping manager abreast of important issues

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred education background in finance or accounting
  • Bachelor Degree
  • Preferred experience working in a fast paced and matrixed organization
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate within Save the Children, across the Save the Children Alliance, and working with donors
