The Associate Director, Events and Trips will work closely and strategically with Individual Philanthropy Officers to further the cultivation of major donors to Save the Children through events and trips. S/he will play a leading role and be responsible for all aspects of major donor events designed to meet specified goals of cultivation, fundraising and stewardship, and will expand the donor experience through the planning and execution of domestic and international program visits.
Areas of Responsibility:
Signature Event Management Lead (65%)
- Working closely with the Individual Philanthropy Portfolio Managers, manage all aspects of donor events including planning, budgeting, financial analysis/tracking/reporting, scheduling, invitations, event logistics and materials, on site event support, follow-up strategy, and other event-related responsibilities. Events will range from high-level VIP events to intimate gatherings, in various cities/states across the country.
- Establish and manage event tracker designed to prioritize and handle timing of events and trip activity.
- Manage all event activity and strategy including, but not limited to: strategic analysis of events, event trends/new technology, speakers, staff attendance, guest lists, fundraising moments, and research to maximize guest experience and fundraising potential.
- Manage event committees as needed including training internal event staff/volunteers as appropriate.
- Develop consistent and professional quality messaging throughout all events.
- Work cross-functionally to ensure acknowledgements, tax receipting and recognition are handled appropriately and within agency standards.
- Develop and provide event post-reports to senior leaders and the Individual Philanthropy Group so that all new individuals are transitioned to an appropriate solicitor.
Field Visits Management Lead (35%)
- Work with Individual Philanthropy Officers and Save the Children State Directors and Country Offices to schedule and plan a number of visits to the field, for the purpose of donor cultivation and stewardship.
- Develop consistent and professional quality messaging for all trips.
- Execute follow-up strategy and plans.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree required
Skills/Experience:
- Minimum 5-7 years' experience in event industry
- Proven ability to build strong working relationships with a variety of constituents, both internally and externally, including senior leadership and high-level individuals
- Strong organizational and detail skills, project management and management of multiple and shifting priorities without compromising quality
- Ability to maintain professional demeanor during high pressure environments
- A high level of integrity and a strong work ethic
- Excellent computer skills including in Microsoft Office programs, event software and Donor Databases (i.e. BBEC)
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion on significant matters related to functional area. Incumbent is provided with the "what", but is most likely to determine the "how"
- A passion for international development and a commitment to Save the Children’s mission and global
- Functional based policy and practices exist
