The primary purpose of this role is to generate funds in support of Save the Children's domestic and international programs. This will be achieved by providing outstanding service to a portfolio of corporate partners and prospecting new opportunities with them. Under Senior Director guidance, the Associate Director is responsible for positioning Save the Children as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to their donors.
The Associate Director will support and lead, as necessary, in driving transformational partnerships and developing strategic plans consisting of programmatic grants, global cause-marketing promotions, employee engagement and other key tactics as defined.
The Associate Director will assess donor needs, service those needs, identify partnership expansion opportunities in alignment with Save the Children's programmatic objectives, and autonomously implement strategies attractive to the donor and in compliance with NGO parameters.
- Generate New Funds (40%) Proactively seek opportunities to generate multiple 6 and 7-figure gifts for Save the Children by growing accounts as assigned. The combined portfolio should generate no less than $3.5 million in cash for Save the Children, inclusive of emergency specific response efforts.
- Donor Stewardship (40%) Develop and implement a donor engagement plan for all assigned donors and grants under management. Responsible for all applicable commitments in place with the partners including (but not limited to): reporting, communications, implementation of cause promotions, donor recognition, facilitating field visits and volunteer opportunities, etc. As key point of contact for assigned corporate partners, the Associate Director is responsible for establishing trust with his or her donors. Act as a liaison with other areas of the Agency to ensure client programs are effectively executed. Ensure information sharing with other Save the Children member offices.
- Contribute to the Success of the Overall Team (15%) Represent the Corporate Partnerships department and lead special projects or perform other duties as may be required for the benefit of the team. Assignments may include serving as a mentor, managing an intern, leading cross-departmental working groups, etc.
- Knowledge Management (5%) Stay up to date in trends in fundraising with the private sector, shared value partnerships, cause marketing and international development and provide training and support across the team on new finding.
- Minimum of 5-7 years progressively responsible professional work experience, ideally at international and national levels on the NGO or private sector side in areas of fundraising or Corporate Social Responsibility.
- Candidates with significant consultative experience, with proven results conceptualizing, negotiating and delivering upon complex client needs – particularly when such issues are relevant to the work of Save the Children or the NGO sector in general – will also be considered.
- Must show demonstrated strategic ability to meet goals; develop relationships in a positive trajectory and generate revenue (6 and 7 figure gifts)
- Knowledge of current theories and practices in corporate social responsibility
- Ideal candidate should have experience managing all types of complex donor relationships, inclusive but not limited to complex multi-country grants, cause-related marketing campaigns, and Shared Value initiatives
