Associate Director, Gift-in-Kind

The Associate Director, Gift-in-Kind will be a key contributor to the revenue and management of the $20M+ SCUS Gifts in Kind (GIK) portfolio and will lead and participate in continuous improvement projects that help the agency expand GIK revenue and improve the quality of goods secured for children.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Gift in Kind Fundraising and Account Management (50%)

  • Working with Director of Gift-in-Kind, support annual revenue goals.
  • Manage personal portfolio of GIK-only accounts assigned with goal of deepening relationships, increasing all types of revenue and expanding GIK with each account. Steward accounts with regular calls and sharing of agency communications.
  • Support CP Account Managers with accounts assigned to ensure they are maximizing GIK asks annually and assist in documentation gathering and reports/photos back from the field.
  • Based on the annual needs list, prospect for new GIK business to continually grow and diversify our GIK portfolio.
  • Working closely with the Director, HR and CP Account Managers, manage the Skills-Based Volunteering portfolio and process to ensure a continual pipeline of projects are available to pitch to CP accounts and that projects are quickly matched to appropriate donors.
  • Develop specialties as assigned (i.e. emergencies, education, health, USP).  Develop program knowledge and staff relationships within assigned sectors to help optimize GIK opportunities for each area.

Operations, Systems, and Reporting (30%): 

  • With the Director, develop GIK needs list through SCI/SCUS annual planning processes and other regular outreach to Members, Regional Offices and Business Teams.
  • For each GIK opportunity ensure BBEC and AMS are updated, agreements and other audit documentation are secured, and revenue is booked as soon as possible after delivery.
  • With Director, regularly analyze and revise pipeline and monthly revenue forecast to ensure senior leadership and finance have an accurate picture of GIK revenue projections.
  • Manage quarterly data collection and analysis of GIK revenue for GIK Council dashboards and meetings.
  • Ensure GIK manual updates are made at least annually and more often if needed for a significant change.
  • Determine operational areas which need improvement and lead or participate in CI projects that address our needs.
  • Co-present at GIK Council meetings 3 times a year.

Training and Capacity Building (10%): 

  • Co-lead on trainings and capacity building discussions with Members, Business Teams, Regional Offices, SCUS and Country Offices
  • Participate in GIK Global Member Working Group
  • Work towards Green Belt and ADI certification
  • Present at CP meetings at least twice a year

Other (10%): 

  • Manage unit interns
  • Manage the annual update of the GIK peer analysis
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree in appropriate discipline and understanding of international development issues required; Masters preferred
Skills/Experience: 
  • 5 years’ experience in operations and/or relationship management
  • Supply Chain, Logistics and Award Management experience a plus, but not required
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, time management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated experience in business process engineering / continual process improvement
  • Self-motivated
  • Foreign language proficiency (Spanish, French, Arabic, Portuguese) a plus, but not required
