The primary purpose of this position is to generate funds in support of Save the Children's domestic and international programs.  This purpose will be achieved by providing outstanding account service to a portfolio of corporate partners and prospecting new partnership opportunities with them.

The Associate Director will demonstrate a deep understanding of Shared Value and the business drivers that would help design truly strategic corporate partnerships. He/she will use this information to develop and implement partnership plans that will consist of co-development, programmatic grants, product innovation, employee engagement and other key tactics as defined from time-to-time.  The Associate Director will have the ability to deliver global cause-related marketing campaigns from strategy to implementation; experience overseeing special events, notably identifying strong speakers, drafting talking points, and supporting social media lift.

Under the guidance of the Senior Director of Global Corporate Partnerships, the Associate Director is responsible for positioning Save the Children as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to their corporate donors.

 The role of an Associate Director is a challenging one, as it is their responsibility to assess the corporate partner’s needs, service those needs, identify partnership expansion opportunities in alignment with Save the Children’s programmatic objectives, and creatively and autonomously design a partnership that is simultaneously attractive to the corporate entity and also in compliance with the tight parameters of the NGO world.  This position requires ingenuity, critical thinking and drive.

The Associate Director may oversee a Manager of Corporate Partnerships. Strong cross functional teamwork is required across multiple sections of the Agency:  Child sponsorship, Web, Communications, branding, etc.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Generate New Funds (35%) Proactively seek opportunities to generate multiple 6 and 7-figure gifts for Save the Children by growing accounts assigned. The combined portfolio should generate no less than $3.5 million in cash for Save the Children, inclusive of emergency specific response efforts. The Associate Director’s personal fundraising goal will contribute to the overall funding needs of the department and the organization. Develop key performance indicators for partner programs and mid-long term vision to ensure partnership growth.    
  •  Pursue Full Potential of a Global Corporate Partner (20%) Working hand in hand with the Senior Director, Corporate Partnerships, actively contribute to the growth and success of at least one of our most ambitious Global Corporate Partnerships to explore untapped potential (i.e. J&J, Mondelez). In close collaboration, the Associate Director will help uncover and pursue new opportunities, developing quality proposals across a variety of funding and engagement channels.
  • Donor Stewardship (20%)  Develop and implement service plan for all assigned donors and grants under management.  Responsible for all applicable aspects of commitments in place with the partners including (but not limited to): reporting, communications, implementation of cause promotions, donor recognition, facilitating field visits and volunteer opportunities, etc.  As key point of contact for assigned corporate partners, the Associate Director is responsible for establishing trust with his or her donors, defining and upholding mutual expectations, responsibilities and beneficial options for all parties involved in the partnership.  In coordination with AD, Program Funding Strategy, ensure Due Diligence for all accounts under management is up to date and centrally filed, in line with department guidelines.  Act as a liaison with other areas of Resource Development, Integrated Marketing & Fundraising, donor services, legal, US and international programs  to ensure client programs are effectively executed (internal process management).   Ensure information sharing with other Save the Children members acting as sub-accounts in any accounts led by him/her.
  •  Manage and Develop our Team (10%) Manage and support direct reports, as assigned. Contribute to his/her direct reports donor relations and stewardship plans as needed to manage committed grants and/or grow new business revenue streams.  Assist direct reports and other as assigned in creating customized decks with storytelling, concept notes and shared value proposals, ensuring that Save the Children’s value proposition is clearing defined; review final pitches / proposals to ensure high quality content, in coordination with Technical Advisors (TAs), Integrated Marketing leaders, and senior field experts. Provide ongoing mentoring to ensure progress toward professional and career development goals.
  •  Contribute to the Success of the Overall Team (10%) Represent the Corporate Partnership department internally as assigned, for the benefit of the team. These internal and external assignments may shift or be replaced by others, as needed during the course of the year.  Support on special team projects /stretch assignments, as requested.
  •  Knowledge Management (5%) - Stay up to date in trends in fundraising with the private sector, shared value partnerships, cause marketing and international development and provide training and support across the team on new finding.  Perform other duties as may be required. 
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree
Skills/Experience: 
  • You have a minimum 5-7 years' progressively responsible professional work experience at international and national levels on the NGO or private sector side in areas of fundraising or Corporate Social Responsibility.
  • Candidates with significant consultative experience, with proven results conceptualizing and solving complex clients needs –particularly when such issues are relevant to the work of Save the Children or the NGO sector in general-- will also be considered.
  • Must show demonstrated strategic ability to meet goals; develop relationships in a positive trajectory and generate revenue (6 and 7 figure gifts)
  • Knowledge of current theories and practices in corporate social responsibility required
  • Ideal candidate should have experience managing all types of complex donor relationships, inclusive but not limited to complex multi-country grants, cause-related marketing campaings, and Shared Value initiatives.
  • Excellent presentation, communication and writing skills
  • Experience managing and mentoring staff highly desirable
  • International experience and working knowledge of additional languages desirable
  • Excellent interpersonal skills - ability to navigate challenging situations to achieve goals and deadlines
