As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Director of Philanthropy is responsible for advancing the YMCA Christian mission and the achievement of short and long-term goals by developing and leading a comprehensive financial development program. This includes, but is not limited to, capital, annual campaign, cabins, endowment, planned giving, Camp Chief Ouray and workforce giving program. Responsible for enhancing the philanthropic culture of the Association; identifying, cultivating, and securing major gifts from individuals; developing and leading donor stewardship efforts; leading volunteers and staff; and directing all Association fundraising programs.
- Personally support the fundraising campaigns of the Association.
- CFRE preferred.
- Serve as a contributing member of the executive leadership team of the Association, and work closely with the President/CEO in his/her areas of expertise.
- Possess (or ability to achieve) Multi-Team / Branch Leader certification through the YMCA of the USA.
- Oversee data management function within philanthropy department.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
- Experience with Raisers Edge and Wealth Engine is beneficial.
- Other duties as assigned.
Accountability:
- Maintain and enhance ongoing cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of current and prospective donors.
- Ensure a comprehensive financial development plan is in place for securing annual, capital, endowment, cabin, and planned gifts
- Achieve growth in contributions to annual operations, capital needs and endowment fund as well as deferred gifts.
- Be knowledgeable about and lead all components of a comprehensive financial development program.
- Implement and monitor strategies for advancing current and potential donors through all aspects of the gift cycle.
- Directly lead and supervise the philanthropy team (currently four people).
- Meet and develop relationships with individuals from all walks of life including those capable of providing charitable donations of $1,000 to $1 million or more.
- Serve as the primary staff person to the Financial Development Committee of the Board of Directors; coach members of the Financial Development Committee and Board on their role in development efforts.
- Maintain responsibility for top list of donors and prospect relationships and support other members of the YMCA team in their relationship management activities.
- Organize and attend member gatherings and special events.
- Overnight travel will be required a minimum of 30 nights per year.
- Working with appropriate leadership, set and implement giving policies, guidelines and reporting standards.

- Successfully manage multiple priorities from multi-functional and diverse areas simultaneously.
- Possess a minimum of five years of experience in major gift solicitation ($25K+).
- Develop compelling gift proposals, acknowledgments, reports and other communications.
This is a full-time, year-round, salaried position paying $120,000 per year, with full benefits, including:
