The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for an Evaluation and Program Performance Improvement Analyst in our National Center office. Preferred location is El Paso, TX (Remote, Home Based is acceptable) .

In this role, you will provide dedicated support for program evaluation and program performance improvement activities performed by the AHA’s Center for Health Metrics and Evaluation for a newly funded cooperative agreement by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)’s Racial And Ethnic Health Approaches to Community Health (REACH) program.

Responsibilities include assisting with development and implementation of Heart REACH program evaluation activities, program performance and monitoring activities including: data gathering, developing program performance dashboards to support and enhance learnings and best practices of dissemination for policy, systems and environmental (PSE) improvement initiatives within the county of El Paso, TX. This role will have a dual reporting function, supporting and leading on the program performance monitoring and reporting and evaluation components for the Heart REACH program. Additionally, this position will collaborate with the program's third-party evaluator and Texas A&M University, to implement outsourced program evaluation activities.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develops and/or and refines standard study measures, develops and implements surveys (paper and online), and oversees quality control of data collection for program performance, monitoring and reporting as well as evaluation purposes.
  • Participates in evaluation strategy, progress, on behalf of, or with, Sr. Evaluation Team Members, Sr. Manager, and the third party evaluators.
  • Manage internal and external reporting (including the creation of reports) of the Heart REACH program against program deliverables.
  • Analyze and translate qualitative and qualitative data for REACH program in conjunction with emerging issues of interests; and policy, systems and environmental changes.
Educational Background: 
Advanced Degree in Public Health (MPH), Marketing Research, Business Statistics or a related field of study.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience creating data collection instruments for both quantitative (surveys/questionnaires) and qualitative (interview/focus group guides) approaches
  • Experience in conducting quantitative and qualitative data analyses
  • Experience in strategic and operational planning
  • Project management and coordination experience
  • Proficient knowledge of research design and methodology
  • Ability to understand scientific communication (journals, briefings, reports, statistics, etc.) ability to synthesize complex data sets into reports or communications for diverse audiences
  • Comprehensive knowledge of public, community and population health and business models
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
