FHI 360 is looking for a Temporary Library Associate for the Knowledge Exchange. This role will last for approximately 6 months, with the possibility for extension.
The Library Associate will support the work of the Knowledge Exchange department primarily by gathering information from staff and other sources about FHI 360 projects, publications and staff. The Knowledge Exchange fosters a culture of knowledge sharing among all parts of FHI 360 to help us take advantage of what we know as an organization, in order to continually improve our products and services to clients. The Knowledge Exchange department oversees company knowledge management and efforts to improve staff use of information, coordinates staff communities of practice, and directs the library. The FHI 360 library provides access to knowledge/information resources both virtually and via physical facilities in NC and DC. This position will last for 4 months with a possible extension to 6 months. The position is in the NC office.
- Performs literature searches using internal and external resources
- Performs descriptive analysis of informational materials of all types
- Provides technical assistance to staff on library related software and technology issues.
- Provides support in the coordination and implementation of library reference services; ensures requests received by the library are answered within a reasonable timeframe.
- Knowledge of or interest and ability to learn wide range of information sources related to human/international development
- Ability to identify, interpret, and address informational problems
- Basic understanding of knowledge sharing/management principles and practices and the relationship to library science
- Knowledge sharing spirit
- Excellent writing, analytical and organizational skills
- Experience using EndNote or other citation management tools
- 0-2 years information and library services and processes and knowledge management experience
