The overall objective of this role is to be the focal contact point for Save the Children in the Gulf, follow up on donor relationships and ensure the International Humanitarian City (IHC) office is operational. The incumbent will be responsible for representing Save the Children in the Gulf region from the Dubai office for the purpose of strengthening our revenue stream from Gulf donors. This would include research and landscape mapping, follow up on donor communication, support to senior staff in the US to manage their Gulf donor accounts, maintaining our physical office running, and ensuring compliance with all local laws and regulations. Other responsibilities would include logistical support for Save the Children in the Gulf, including bank account set up, license renewal, attending related meetings to brief management, meeting with IHC staff to receive updates and follow up on membership requirements, and overall be the go to person when someone needs to reach out to Save the Children. This position is expected to be funded through mid-2020, with the potential for additional funding.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Support Gulf fundraising efforts from existing and new donors (50%)

  • Regular research to identify new business opportunities 
  • Research and identify developing funding interests/trends of existing donors including landscape analysis for the geo-political and economic environments. 
  • Participate in strategy setting meetings with SCUS/UK Gulf team and inform the strategy with on the ground intelligence.
  • Ensure close follow up when proposals and concepts are submitted to Gulf donors through follow up calls and face-to-face meetings. 
  • Be the point of contact for local donor communication to ensure quick and effective response to donor requests
  • In case of public fundraising requests from partners, initiate and follow up paper work needed by government agencies.
  • When needed, support event management for IPG donors
  • Attend networking events, NGO related meetings at the International Humanitarian City (IHC), etc., taking notes and debriefing management

Representation of SC/Office management (30%)

  • Be continuously apprised of any developments in regulations or updates from IHC and update management.
  • Attend a monthly call with management for updates
  • Submit a monthly report of what is happening on the Gulf landscape that may affect SC’s work.
  • In consultation with senior staff at head office, represent Save the Children and be the spokesperson during events and other public and private opportunities. 

Logistical support to maintain Dubai IHC office registration (10%)

  • Meetings with IHC and to identify legal requirements and compliance issues on a regular basis, 
  • Working with head office, ensure all the paperwork required for license renewal, banking, rent agreements, etc. are prepared effectively and submitted in a timely manner 
  • Follow up with IHC staff on a regular basis to ensure Save the Children is in compliance with any regulations

Perform other job duties as required (10%)

Educational Background: 
High School or Technical/Vocational Degree
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in an area of expertise (including relationship management, event organization, government relations)
  • Good understanding of the Middle East culture
  • Strong English language skills 
  • United Arab Emirates work permit

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree, strongly preferred
  • Arabic language skills, strongly preferred
