The Somalia program wishes to invite applications from highly competent dynamic, self-driven and results oriented Somali National to fill the following vacancies. The successful candidates will be based in WV Baidoa Office.
Project Coordinator: Health – Baidoa
The overall purpose of the Health and Nutrition Projects Coordinator is to lead the implementation of the health and nutrition projects in South West State, Somalia. The H&N Coordinator will be directly responsible for the day-to-day management of the health and nutrition projects in SWS while also supporting and providing leadership to the gender and protection components of the portfolio. The Health and Nutrition coordinator will be required to contribute to integration of the health campaign project in the WV strategic Health and Nutrition Programing in particular and the general humanitarian work in the country as well as in alignment with the WV national Office Health and Nutrition strategy. The position holder will also provide sound and current capacity building and technical support on behavior change communication (BCC) strategies to staff, partners and community members.
Major Responsibilities:
Project management
Aquant oneself on the project outputs, indicators, activities and budget to ensure smooth implementation of activities
Work with the Health & Nutrition Manager and project staff to develop project management tools including; Detailed implementation plan, procurement plan, budget spending plan and monitoring plan.
Ensure that all stakeholders of the project (community, ministry of health, partners) have detailed understanding of the project and participate in the implementation
Provide technical support to project staff on the implementation of new community health and advocacy approaches included in the project
Ensure timely and quality implementation of project activities
Ensure procurement & recruitment processes are initiated on timely manner
Work with the Health & Nutrition manager in the management of project budget to ensure project expenditure as per project plan
Ensure selection and deployment of appropriate community based volunteers for project implementation in coordination with community leaders, MOH and project staff
Organize and facilitate workshops, working group meetings and community meetings at the community and government levels
Build strong relationship with Ministry of health, community leaders and other stakeholders of the project both in the field and at country level in Hargeisa
Ensure integration of the health campaign project in other health & nutrition programs in the target locations supported by WV,
Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting:
Work with the H&N manager and DME staff to ensure that appropriate M&E system are in place
Ensure project staff, MOH staff and volunteers have accurate understanding of the data collection tools, data management systems and other M&E systems
Ensure availability of all the necessary M&E tools are in place
Participate and support internal and external project evaluation exercises
Participate and support project start-up, quarterly review and end of project meetings
Draft and submit quality and accurate internal and donor report on the timely manner
Ensure all relevant information from all the project are accurately filed and lessons learned are documented
Financial Control and Budget Management
Ensure appropriate financial systems, procedures and controls are used in the effective project management
Monthly financial projections are prepared and submitted for funding in a timely manner.
Management response to audit queries is done on a timely basis
Asset inventory in place.
All assets are adequately safeguarded.
Facilitate preparation of project budgets, narrative reports, updates, financial reports and submit them within the agreed time frames.
Staff management & Capacity Building:
Organize and facilitate training to the project staff, community volunteers and MOH staff on the community health modalities included in the project
Support the project staff in organizing and conducting trainings to community volunteers and community members
Provide on the on-the-job training, guidance and support for WV and MOH staff and community volunteers
Staff performance review and appraisals done and clear performance goals agreed upon.
All project staff grievances and disciplinary issues are managed appropriately
Staff capacity is constantly improved to meet the challenges of their job.
Mainstreaming
Contribute the mainstreaming of GBV and child protection issues in WV Somalia programs, particularly in health, nutrition, resilience and livelihoods and food programming
Others
Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned by the Project Manager

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience
The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:
Minimum Qualification required: Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Nursing, Nutrition or related fields;
Experience: At least 5 years’ experience in managing health/nutrition projects preferably health promotion activities. Project management experience is an added advantage
Technical Skills & Abilities:
Professional experience related to behavior change communication and health promotion projects Experience in the management of health services in humanitarian organization
Solid experience in training and capacity building experience, particularly using participatory approaches and methods in for training
Experience in writing donor and internal reports
Good computer skill especially Microsoft office. Data management experience is an added advantage
Previous m-health experience an added advantage
Fluency in English and Somali
