FHI 360 is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Senior Implementation Science Manager for USAID’s Strengthening Multisectoral Nutrition Programming through Implementation Science. The position will be based at FHI 360’s office in Dhaka, Bangladesh and will require periodic travel to the project implementation sites throughout Bangladesh.
Strengthening Multisectoral Nutrition Programming through Implementation Science is a five-year project designed to improve nutrition policy making and implementation in Bangladesh, with the aim of accelerating the annual rate of decline in stunting in Bangladesh to at least 3.3 percent. The project aims to achieve the following two intermediate Results (IRs): 1) Increased availability of evidence to guide multisectoral nutrition programming implementation; and 2) Improved capacity to use evidence to inform policy and programmatic decision-making. The project will do so by conducting a randomized controlled trial of the impact of a set of multisectoral nutrition interventions and several other research studies, all related to advancing implementation of nutrition programs for adolescents, pregnant and lactating women and children under the age of two.
Job Summary / Responsibilities:
The Senior Implementation Science Manager will be responsible for the overall coordination and management of the trial from startup through closeout. Under the technical direction of the Research Director, s/he will manage the technical and operational aspects of the study, ensuring the successful completion. Responsibilities include but no limited to:
- Coordinates partners and resources related to study activities; ensures appropriate staffing to accomplish study goals within budget
- Develops budget and expense review strategy; develops proactive cost containment strategies and communicates with project team; regularly reviews budget/expenses with project team
- Ensures strong client relationship management through clear communications, decisive de-escalation of issues and coordination with other project leadership
- Provides leadership and vision to all project staff and external vendors contracted to complete project
- Collaborates with leadership to set clear team and individual expectations to accomplish the goals set forth in the project
- Leads problem solving and resolution efforts to include management of risk, contingencies and issue resolution
- Manages the day-to-day operations of the trial and field activities, including trial start-up, conduct, and close-out activities
- Develops and implements operational plans, incorporating the study and scientific plans
- Creates and manages overall operation of the entire study including project planning, budget, and resource management
- Ensures that trial timelines, costs, and quality metrics are established and met.
- Supports research protocol development, review, approval, and execution
- Establishes study milestones and ensures accurate tracking and reporting of study metrics
- Performs ongoing vendor management including independent negotiation of scope of work, budgets, performance management, and issue resolution
- Recommends and implements innovative process ideas to impact trial management
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 8 years of previous experience in nutrition research project management, possessing the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform this job
- Minimum of 5 years of experience managing nutrition studies in resource-constrained settings
- Prior experience and demonstrated success in working with research and technical teams and research coordinator teams
- Global project management experience
- Able to delegate, effectively prioritizes own and workload of project team members
- Possesses sound interpersonal skills, is flexible and adapts to changing situations
- Articulate, professional and able to communicate in a clear, positive concise manner with project partners and staff
- Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English and Bangla
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, and spreadsheets required
