The Director of Communication will facilitate effective, multi-faceted communication and public witness, throughout our diocesan household, the Episcopal Church and the community at large. Utilizing traditional (print and electronic), digital and social media communication methodologies and technology, the Director will support the vision, priorities and activities of the bishop’s office and congregations throughout the diocese.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  1. Assist and travel with the bishop of the diocese to create and foster her role as a public figure within and outside of our diocesan community.
  2. Collaborate with bishop’s staff and diocesan leadership to create and implement a clear and compelling diocesan message and style for all events and communication vehicles.
  3. Consult with and support congregations of the diocese in design and strategy for their websites.
  4. Using strong writing and editing skills, cultivate and manage all diocesan communications, including the website, social media presence, emails, weekly email newsletter, special announcements .
  5. Serve as videographer and editor for the bishop’s weekly sermons, special messages and
  6. Serve as staff graphic designer and editor (web/video and print formatting)
    1. Recruit and assign photographers/videographers to capture events diocesan wide
Educational Background: 
Advanced education in journalism or related discipline and active participation in related professional organizations is desirable.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Candidates must have at 2 years of professional experience in organizational communications management
  • Candidates must be articulate in American Standard English, and able to write and edit well. Must be able to communicate in and effectively utilize print, electronic and social media.
  • Familiarity with Episcopal Church, its organization structures, and Anglican spirituality is helpful.
  • Proven technical ability in graphic design and journalism is a must.
  • Experience with the following is necessary:
    • Live streaming events – YouTube and Facebook Live
    • Zoom/Video conference meetings and webinars
    • Social Media: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Tiktok
    • CMS: WordPress
    • Email Marketing: Constant Contact/Mailchimp
    • Design: Adobe and Canva
    • Video: Adobe After  Effects, Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere

            Additional Requirements and Workplace Environment

  • Can thrive and be energized by a fast paced work environment with multiple projects moving simultaneously.
  • Must be able to adjust personal schedule to accommodate flexibility for weekend and evening events throughout the diocese.
  • Must be a licensed driver and have access to private transportation in fulfilling above duties. 
  • Must be able to work collaboratively with other members of the Bishop’s staff, members of the diocesan household, and colleagues throughout the community and Episcopal Church at large.
  • Options to work in a hybrid schedule (work from home/work in office) will be available after the first 60 days of employment.
Compensation/Benefits: 
  • Benefit package includes 403b contributions, medical and dental insurance, group life insurance as well as short and long term disability insurance. (Benefits to begin on the first day of the first full month of employment)
  • Business expenses reimbursed per EDOMI policy (including mileage and cell phone service)
  • Compensation:  $60,000 annually
