Health Center Advocacy Program Organizer

Under the supervision of the Health Center Advocacy Program (HCAP) Manager, the HCAP Organizer will develop, implement and manage a network of activists and HCAP participants in their respective area. The HCAP Organizer will be responsible for building relationships and serving as a liaison between our health center staff and Public Affairs team. The HCAP Organizer will also be responsible for implementing an activist management plan developed in collaboration with the Public Affairs team and HCAP Manager. The HCAP Organizer will serve as a representative and liaison between community partners and Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains, as well. The Organizer will work with the Public Affairs team in Colorado to target activists, create and execute events to recruit new activists and elevate these activists up the "Ladder of Engagement." The HCAP Organizer position is Full-time, hourly, non-exempt position.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Serves as member of PPRM Public Affairs team; responsible for developing a collaborative CO political activist coordination program.
  • Serve as a liaison between health center staff, Education staff, and Public Affairs team and work.
  • Collaborates with HCAP Manager to develop relationships and create comfortable atmosphere in PP health centers for activists to implement HCAP work.
  • Works with HCAP Manager to develop or adjust PPFA HCAP materials to be Colorado specific, coordinating printed and distribution of these materials.
  • Recruits, trains and coordinates activists for HCAP in health centers, including coordinating with the Volunteer Manager on to ensure security and compliance measures are being met as per the overall goals of the Volunteer Department
  • Coordinates with coalition partners to elevate the work of HCAP for engaging new activists as well and furthering conversations around the patient services PP provides.
  • Maintains activist database for activists, including coordinating entry of all patient-advocate stories collected for use by PPRM. Coordinates with Volunteer Manager and Communications Department as appropriate.
  • Provides support to existing Organizing programs in their area, including all State Infrastructure Project (SIP) related and student group organizing efforts; including but not limited to:
    • Activist Coordination
    • Activist Recruitment/Scheduling and Training
    • Technical Assistance using VAN, creating other activist materials
    • Technical Assistance for reporting
    • Technical Assistance in meeting SIP requirements
  • Provides additional line of communication with coalition partners on activist activity and new projects.
  • Participates in abortion services (participation can include referrals, information, education, counseling, performing, scheduling, etc.)
  • Other duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
College degree
Skills/Experience: 

Ability to contribute to the mission of Planned Parenthood, including reducing abortion stigma and impacting policy as well as public sentiment on reproductive health, rights and justice issues. A college degree OR demonstrated equivalent experience in a relevant fields, campaign organizing skills and database management experience are strongly preferred. Experience in program development, recruiting, managing and retaining activists strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to create, evaluate and adjust systems preferred. Must be able to travel within the state of Colorado regularly and within the four state affiliate occasionally. Must possess valid driver’s license. Excellent computer skills, including database management and Microsoft Office programs required.
