The Development Director will lead the C3/C4 Development Team to implement the annual fundraising plan to support CIRC/CIRC Action Fund’s annual budget of 1.3-1.6 million dollars through grants, philanthropic, and individual giving. The Development Director will research and cultivate foundation grants and individual giving in support of the capacity and growth of the organization. This position will serve as a member of the Senior Leadership and will work closely with CIRC’s Communications Team to create effective marketing and communications materials to highlight the impact of our work through our website, social media, annual report, brochures and other program collateral. This role provides limited support to CIRC Action Fund’s Managing Director and communications team.
Development Planning and Program Implementation
- Development of annual fundraising plan that includes grants, major gifts, contributions, individual, and recurring donations.
- Build relationships with major donors, sponsors, and philanthropic institutions. Work closely with Executive Director to identify and cultivate donor relationships.
- Direct fundraising appeals, online giving strategies, and oversee the creation of fundraising materials with the communications team.
- Prepare the development of successful fundraising proposals and grant reporting activities.
- Support site visits, grant development, and grant reporting processes.
- Oversee implementation of annual fundraising goals, tracking, reporting and the preparation of the annual report.
- Lead a feasibility study for a capital campaign and/or launching an endowment fund.
- Oversee donor database for relationship management, donor list-building, privacy and accuracy.
Leadership & Management
- Work as a thought partner with the Executive Director to establish a long-term fundraising vision for the organization to ensure sustainability and implementation of our core mission.
- Work with development staff to engage board, staff, members, and volunteers in supporting the fundraising goals of the organization.
- Support in the development of the annual budget and grant/program budget preparation.
- Research new grant prospects, funding sources, partnerships, and stakeholder relationships.
- Support the Executive Director by attending presentations, funder convenings, fundraising events, and community engagement meetings as needed.
- Manage and provide leadership to the Development Manager and fundraising support staff.
- Be an active participant in CIRC’s internal anti-oppression and inclusivity efforts.
- Knowledge of the funding landscape and familiarity with grant research, proposal development, grant reporting, and evaluation practices.
- Ability to self-start work, set goals, and objectives and report progress on those goals.
- Experience developing marketing materials and annual reports.
- Proficiency in traditional and online fundraising strategies, major donor work, capital campaigns, planned giving and corporate/business partnerships.
- Ability to make decisions and provide input on development trends and best practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively, resolve problems, and make timely decisions.
- Excellent writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven track record of leadership, self-motivation, and commitment.
- Detail oriented, highly organized and strong project management skills.
- Minimum 3 years developing and implementing a strategic fundraising plan.
- Successful track record in a development role with demonstrated success in foundation fundraising, donor engagement strategies, monthly giving, and annual event execution.
- Knowledge of and relationships within local and state immigrant rights movement with a strong commitment to social justice and social change.
- Up to 15% travel within state and occasional out of state travel.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as fundraising events require.
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office, and basic familiarity with graphic design software
- Familiarity with donor database software such as Every Action, Salesforce, etc.
- Proficiency in Spanish and/or other languages of Colorado’s diverse immigrant and refugee communities preferred but not required.
Full time position with a starting salary of $50,150 with full medical benefits, and a generous PTO policy.
