VP, Emergency Cardiovascular Care

The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for a VP, Emergency Cardiovascular Care position at our National Center office located in Dallas, TX! This individual wll be responsible for strategic direction and leadership of the Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) Business Unit. Responsible for developing the ECC Three-Year Business Plan as well as, providing strategic and operational leadership to achieve the goals defined in the ECC Business Plan as approved by the International Business Committee and the AHA Board of Directors. Responsible for achieving domestic revenue goals and supporting achievement of global ECC revenue goals; developing, directing and/or managing relationships with multiple external partners; pursuing the ECC legislative agenda; developing and executing marketing strategies to drive workplace and community ECC mission and business strategies; and collaborating with RQI Partners executive management team to support growth and development of the RQI competency platform as the standard of care for healthcare resuscitation training and quality improvement. Other responsibilites will include:

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develops and leads strategic direction of the ECC Business Unit. Provides leadership and oversight of ECC science, product development (over 300 domestic products), material sales ($140 million gross sales in 2015-16) and support operations for the ECC training network consisting of more than 13,500 training centers and sites and 400,000 instructors. Sets strategic objectives, goals, strategies, programs and processes, and works with ECC volunteer and staff teams in designing and implementing to meet the goals. Establishes mechanisms to monitor actual results against plans, communicates status of plans and initiates corrective actions as necessary so that objectives are met.
  • An integral member of the AHA's management team, participates in the analysis and development of efficient and effective marketing and sales funcion strategies, programs and practices designed to meet or exceed organizational goals in support of the AHA Strategic Plan
  • Develops the Three-Year ECC Business Plan and annual plans to accomplish the goals and objectives approved by the AHA International Business Committee and the AHA Board of Directors
  • Enters into, directs and/or manages key alliances and business relationships necessary to support business objectives including the Laerdal Board approved Strategic Relationship.
  • Leads and manages functional departments such as product development, marketing, technology and training center support operations, distribution and sales within the ECC Business Unit. Ensures effective organizational structure, staffing, training and support for employees to ensure mission accomplishment in an effective and efficient manner as possible.
  • Provides periodic reports to a variety of AHA leadership team meetings on the state of the ECC Business Unit.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience
  • Experience operating and managing Healthcare market or Health related products
  • Experience developing sales and marketing plans for science based or healthcare-based products
  • Experience with financial oversight of multi-million-dollar revenue responsibilities including budgeting, forecasting and strategic planning
  • Senior management experience in leading, motivating, and developing staff
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, partner, educate and effectively influence
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Ability to travel up to 45% local and overnight stay
