The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for a Sr. International Program Manager at our National Center office located in Dallas, TX! This individual will be responsible for leading development, launch and implementation of a pilot global strategy to improve high blood pressure control in three international markets. Responsible for oversight and management of 1) healthcare professional education, 2) clinical quality and systems improvement, and 3) policy shaping activities with appropriate local organizations. Responsible for building collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders such as clinical leaders, government and non-government community organizations and funding partners. Also, responsible for connecting with internal resources to provide development and execution guidance from Corporate Relations, Mission Advancement, Science & Research, Advocacy and Quality Improvement.
- Directs the development of program tools and resources for launch and implementation of a multi-city global health program (Better Hearts Better Cities) focused on addressing hypertension and related risk factors
- Researches, identifies and establishes collaborative relationships with market-level implementation partners. Provides resources and tools for engaging clinicians, community leaders and funding sponsors in support of the business model and strategy
- Evaluates data from current market assessment and program outcomes to optimize efforts on a continual basis and inform future program iterations
- Plans and manages budget to produce a business model to replicate globally. Conducts pilot testing and plan evaluation to perfect and channel program toward new funding opportunities and markets eager to provide resources and support. Develops new funding pipeline and proposals in partnership with Corporate Relations and Mission Advancement
- Acts as liaison and facilitating partner with AHA Center for Evaluation and Health Metrics, on-location data collectors in the launch cities for the Better Hearts, Better Cities program (Dakar, Senegal; Sao Paulo, Brazil; Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia) and keystakeholders/cliniciansto apply the best models for scientific data collection, management and analysis. Develops, prepares and distributes regular status reports on program actions and outcomes
- Five (5) years of experience in healthcare quality and systems improvement including developing evaluation and measurement tools within a community based public health environment
- Five (5) years of comprehensive knowledge or experience with cardiovascular (CV) health, diseases, and related risk factors
- Three (3) years of comprehensive experience in measuring and understanding high blood pressure, treatment, and peripheral risk factors as they relate to quality of care, prevention, and successful condition management
- Ability to organize and collaborate with diverse stakeholders and to be sensitive to cultural differences
- Experience building relationships and engaging disparate individuals around a common goal
- Applied knowledge in evaluating improvement strategies and best practices
- Ability to travel up to 25% local and overnight stay
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of non-communicable diseases and the impact on global health
- Exposure to health care delivery in developing countries
- Masters of Public Health degree
- Bi-lingual in Spanish, French, or Chinese preferred
