Senior Communications Manager, Executive & Digital Strategies

The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a Senior Communications Manager, Executive & Digital Strategies in the Office of the CEO in our National Center office located in Dallas, Texas

In this role, you will be responsible for crafting, organizing and executing strategic internal and external communications that represent the voice of the American Heart Association’s CEO including, but not limited to: PowerPoint presentations, social media: graphic and planned content posts, blogs, talking points, personal correspondence and other related communication deliverables for the AHA CEO, our Board members and Office of the CEO (OCEO) executives. Responsible for developing relationships across the organization to deliver compelling narratives that ladder up to the OCEO storytelling agenda.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Serve as digital communications lead and liaison for the CEO. Craft social media content posts, and lead engagement, responses and broader plans via CEO branded social accounts. Research media trends and work with organizational units to develop strategy that advances the image, positioning and personalization of the CEO targeted to a variety of audience segments including leaders in health technology, health equity, systems of care, advocacy, volunteers, donors and staff. Build a digital experience that engages audiences where they are and inspires them to act.
  • Design and produce compelling PowerPoint presentations and accompanying talking points. Possess a real passion for visual storytelling to enhance graphic content and visual presentations in collaboration with CEO. Research, identify and recommend current health and news trends to incorporate into AHA and CEO communications strategy.
  • Produce communications deliverables including scripts, presentations or briefings for large-scale events such as Scientific Sessions, Gold Heart Awards, Go Red for Women, International Stroke Conference and Quarterly Board Meetings.
  • Experience collaborating with AV teams and loading and stewarding assets on the Digital Asset Management (DAM) platform. Maintain communications tracker and video file captioning. Serve as back up for working with video editor to produce monthly videos.
  • Refine and own quarterly communication metrics dashboard. Deep dive into Sprinklr and other tools to evaluate Twitter/LinkedIn engagement and find opportunities to increase engagement.
Educational Background: 
A Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, related area or equivalent work experience
Skills/Experience: 
  • A minimum of 8 - 10 years communications and marketing experience
  • Experience developing and designing visual media for presentations (PowerPoint) and videos
  • Experience in social media, leading digital communities via LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram or related accounts
  • Experience writing, editing and managing communications content for print or digital media
  • Project management experience, including leading multiple projects concurrently, with attention to timelines, details and deadlines
  • Ability to develop newsworthy or topical ideas, write and pitch ideas
  • Proficient computer skills including all Microsoft Office programs, especially Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Proficient in Canva & Sprinkler
  • Advanced writing and editing skills
  • Confirmed ability to work well independently and collectively across the broader organization
  • Ability to travel overnight up to 15% of the time
