Responsible for the tactical planning, creation, and execution of various Emerging Strategies/Ventures projects such as Research Goes Red and science collaborations with technology companies to achieve business vision and goals. Responsible for business development functions such as creating go-to-market strategies based on external market needs and identifying funding/investment business relationships. Also responsible for applying project management best practices and tools to enable on-time/on-budget project delivery including identifying and developing effective communication plans and tools to inform internal and external stakeholders on status, costs, milestones and deliverables.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Supports, executes, and evaluates emerging ventures or initiatives such as Research Goes Red and other priority projects/programs. Assists in acquiring project resources including teams, partners and funding organizations.
  • Supports and executes models for partnerships and key stakeholder involvement for structure, planning and financial investment. Researches, identifies and drives stakeholder partnerships and manages relationships, providing project status and documentation as needed.
  • evelops product road-map, communication and marketing plan for overall business concepts and product development. Ensures the designs of product structure, market strategy and development plan for introduction and launch of commercial business.
  • Develops short-term and long-term operational plans. Leads implementation of operational plan including hiring and supporting leadership roles to execute and manage business, partnerships, and market penetration.
  • Understand business, competitive market, and customer needs for products or programs. Identify and model delivery methods, key competitors, and messaging.
  • Develops and presents comprehensive evaluation and tracking plan including metrics and targets for all marketing and outreach efforts. Provides regular progress and effectiveness reports for finances, project measures, and marketing, including public relations and advertising to engage appropriate target audiences.
  • Collaborate with AHA cross-functional teams such as the Institute for Precision Cardiovascular Medicine, legal, science, finance, Go Red for Women team and marketing and communications.
Skills/Experience: 
  • At least 5 years experience in developing, building, supporting or delivering new commercial business(es), including experience with corporate or non-profit structures and legal requirements; organizational/operational design; market identification, business development and commercial strategy; product development, design and launch planning
  • Experience with project management methodology, communications or processes
  • Experience building and negotiating partnerships and alliances
  • Experience collaborating with executives, steering committees, volunteer advisors
  • Ability to define clear action steps and manage expectations of others
  • Strategic planning skills to develop/implement plans, (including risk mitigation / contingency planning)
