Project Coordinator, Science Operations

The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a Project Coordinator (Science Operations) in our National Center office located in Dallas, TX .

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Management of project timelines, deadline compliance and effective communication and dissemination of both.
  • Working knowledge of department policy, procedures and guideline and conscience effort to contribute to goals of department.
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers and volunteers.
  • Work with other OSO departments and AHA departments to meet department goals.
  • Maintain excellent communication and organization skills and the ability to multi-task and accept new projects as they come up.
  • Prepares and processes all correspondence. Proof reads, duplicates and distributes all such correspondence, reports, presentations, etc.
  • Heavy calendar maintenance, coordinates schedules, appointments, meetings and conference calls with volunteers and other National Center staff; provides agendas and support materials for scheduled appointments.
  • Maintains supervisor's calendars of appointments and makes arrangements for science committees, writing groups, task forces, working group meetings, and/or council leadership committee meetings. Performs record keeping as needed. Prepares agendas and support materials for these meetings as needed.
Educational Background: 
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in business administration or executive support.
  • Ability to work with the AHA's medical volunteers and scientists, national and affiliate staff and outside professionals to accomplish diverse, given projects and to handle telephone conversations professionally.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player.
  • Ability to establish and meet critical deadlines as well as the ability to anticipate problems and resolve them.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to operate office equipment, possess advanced computer skills (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel) along with the ability to train others on system usage. Skills in budget management.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
