The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a Project Coordinator in our Council Awards group located at our National Center office in Dallas, TX .

The Project Coordinator will be responsible for the planning and implementation of AHA member recognition programs, including scholarships, awards, and lectures targeted to recognizing excellence in young investigators, clinicians, researchers, students and other professionals.

This is a full time, benefits eligible temporary assignment that will last approx. 6 months.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Provides timely direction, framework and resources to volunteers while at the same time relying on their expertise, abilities and willingness to leverage their networks to drive the goals of the organization.
  • Coordinate and monitor project timelines while effectively communicating project needs and related information as required.
  • Communicate with client base to organize and manage award applications.
  • Assists with marketing efforts which may include updating on-line content, distribution of marketing materials, or vendors/contractors/volunteer communication. Markets and promotes award opportunities to potential applicants.
  • Establishes relationships with contacts who maintain an interest in awards programs. Corresponds with volunteer award committees regarding peer review processes, teleconference scheduling, onsite meeting itineraries for the committees
  • Evaluates and maintains information and accurate data for compliance requirements or internal reporting needs. Collaborates with internal and external customers to ensure documentation is accurate and meets expectations.
  • Confers with internal staff regularly regarding award budgets, new award and lecture proposals and changes, award presentation logistics
Educational Background: 
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum of 2 years of administrative and/or project coordination experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare written and presentation communications.
  • Excellent customer service and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with various computer software programs (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).

Here are some of the preferred skills we are looking for:

  • Some college or BA in Communications, Business, Marketing or related area
