The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for an Project Coordinator at our National Center office located in Dallas, TX .
The Project Coordinator administers research applications and peer review processes for applicants to the AHA research program and Institute for Precision Cardiovascular Medicine research programs. In this role, you will provide management for research applications, including working with research scientists, institutional grants and fiscal officers and other parties associated with application submission.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Application Management: Supports annual submission of approximately 5000 applications; provides information and consultation to all customer groups (applicants, institutional personnel, sponsors and referents), manages applications for compliance with program requirements and adherence to AHA policies and procedures, manages notification to applicants and institutions.
- Peer Review Management: Supports the peer reivew process by collecting and reviewing conflict of interest forms, developing meeting materials (i.e. agendas, rosters, etc.), processing volunteer expense reimbursements, assisting in development of reviewer training materials and webinars, and managing teleconference logistics during peer review meetings.
- Special Projects: Review of new program descriptions (i.e. Strategically Focused Research Networks, Institute) for applicant comprehension and clarity, regular review and revision of applicant instructions to ensure coordination with AHA policies and procedures.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's Degree from a four year college/university or equivalent work experience.
Skills/Experience:
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with databases and electronic reporting tools.
- Excellent customer service and organizational skills.
- Prior experienceworking with volunteers, particularly science volunteers.
- Must be detail-oriented with exceptional math and computer skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
