Marketing Manager, Scientific Sessions

The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a Marketing Manager, Scientific Sessions in our National Center office located in Dallas, Texas .

The Marketing Manager will provide strategic marketing services, marketing functions and future marketing directions to all departments in Science Operations with a special focus on AHA/ASA Scientific Meetings including Scientific Sessions.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Coordinate, develop and direct all marketing functions for Scientific Sessions including market planning, research, direct mail, email campaigns, advertising, web content development, social media, on-site signage and promotional programs as well as all other aspects of marketing needed. Create specific Council and membership marketing campaigns highlighting offerings at Scientifc Sessions geared toward each audience. Increase abstract submission and webinar registration for the Emerging Science Series.
  • Work with the Sr. Marketing Manager in establishing initial relationship and scope of work and assist with project management of vendors and agencies in a variety of marketing venues (print, video, photography, PR, strategic planning collaborations, etc.), as well as brand management and compliance oversight. Manage revenue and budget for established portfolio while identifying potential cost savings and revenue gains.

  • Understand and market the overall AHA/ASA Scientific Sessions Conference and its benefits through various marketing mediums to the cardiovascular science community, in order to retain current submitters and attendees, as well as increase the reach, awareness and attendance of Scientific Sessions.
  • Create social media marketing plans to promote abstract submission and conference attendance for Scientific Sessions, determine effectiveness through ROI analysis of social media marketing campaigns, and prepare reports based on the available social media data and present findings to management and executives.
  • Manage project timelines, deadline compliance and effective communication and dissemination of both.
  • Establish trusted communication with volunteers and anticipate needs and expectations.
  • Establishing trusted relationships with volunteers including communication expectation building and anticipation of needs.
  • Work assigned by the Sr. Manager pertaining to special projects and the International Stroke Conference related tactics.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications or a closely related field.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum of two (2) years of marketing experience.
  • Experience in social media marketing including Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
  • Demonstrated ability in email and print marketing, design and delivery.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Products, Word, Excel PPT and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently with excellent time and project management skills.
  • Knowledge of managing budgets.  
  • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with staff and present effectively to management using excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and strong attention to detail.
  • Must be able to travel overnight approx. 15% of the time.

  • Basic HTML and web development knowledge.
  • Experience marketing to membership associations.
  • Experience with multimedia/video marketing.
  • Experience with Photoshop or other design software.
