The American Heart Associaiton has an excellent opportunity for a The Manager, Healthcare Quality Informatics! This individual will be responsible for supporting efforts of the Quality Improvement business team in developing strategy, positioning, opportunities and recommendations for the American Heart Association in the category of electronic data collection and reporting for the organization’s inpatient suite of programs. The position will be responsible to facilitate complete integration of new and updated scientific guidelines into AHA QI clinical decision support tools; lead in the management of core measure vendor relationships and opportunities, maintaining current interfaces and procuring new opportunities for data integration; support the Senior Manager, Healthcare Quality informatics with Electronic Medical Record partnerships; and assist in the development of strategic data relationships and measure alignment negotiations with key partners. The position will also support strategic integration, consultation, and training of AHA affiliates on electronic data collection.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Oversee specific modules within the Patient Management Tool and/or any AHA QI clinical decision support tools (including CAD, Heart Failure, Stroke, AFIB and/or Resuscitation)
  • Lead the biannual work order process to ensure technological specifications are created and delivered in a timely manner and all deliverables are up to standards. This also includes developing product enhancements to meet the needs of the AHA and customers
  • Lead data partnerships with external organizations such as The Joint Commission, CMS, and the Paul Coverdell National Acute Stroke Registry to harmonize data quality efforts. This requires analysis of the larger quality healthcare environment and review of the Specifications Manual for National Hospital Inpatient Quality Measures to identify data alignment opportunities
  • Collaborate with the Senior Manager, Healthcare Quality Informatics, Science and Medicine Advisors, volunteers, and strategic alliances for the identification of new and updated guidelines release and development of a project plan to support complete integration with available technology tools and resources
  • Oversee Core Measure vendor integration with inpatient programs. This includes the provision of technical and clinical support such as data mapping advisement, specification review, form control advisement, and measure review
  • Lead efforts to improve communication with vendors, customers, and AHA field staff on technological platform updates; create and implement a process for timely and effective communication
  • Serve as expert advisor to Senior Manager and other internal stake holders for the development of the Inpatient Quality Health IT strategic business plan. This position is directly responsible for implementation of that strategic business plan for assigned Get With the Guidelines Modules (HF, Stroke, and Resuscitation)
  • Monitor quality control of vendor deliverables ensuring they are up to standards and achieved within scope and budget
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
Skills/Experience: 
  • At least five (5) years of relevant experience
  • A minimum of recent 5 years’ experience as a hospital, quality, or health professional
  • Experience with new measure development and integration of established measures into healthcare technology platforms is a must
  • Cardiovascular Clinical knowledge a must. This may be as a degreed health professional or through experience in the health care arena with active responsibility for quality improvement program implementation
  • Ability to understand, interpret and communicate clinical information
  • Ability to gather, analyze and interpret relevant data and use interpretations in the development of solution-oriented problem solving and business planning
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects
  • Must have excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Ability to travel up to 40% local and overnight stay

Preferred Experience:

  • 6 years’ experience in project management or communications/marketing or health technology a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex relationships with external partners and allied organizations
  • Knowledge of voluntary health organizations and experience in group process with the ability to resolve conflicts and gain consensus through mediation and collaboration highly desirable
