Government Grant Analyst

The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a Government Grant Analyst at our office located in Dallas, TX.

In this role, you will be responsible for providing a variety of accounting, reporting and financial support for federal and non-federal government grants awarded to the Association. Responsible for analyzing grant accounting and reporting requirements and preparing financial documentation.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Research, analyze and prepare a variety of financial and governance reports related to state and federal government grants. Prepare time and attendance calculations and review non-labor expenses for grant reimbursement requests. Monitor adherence to deadlines for submission of time sheets and calculate time and effort costs. Compile and review all non-labor expenses to be charged to the government and review supporting documentation for allowability of expenses. Prepare reimbursement requests to government for review. Perform other financial responsibilities in accordance with federal regulations as requested.
  • Act as liaison and transaction expert with Accounts payable, Legal, Procurement, Finance or Business Unit to support adherence to government grant accounting and reporting.
  • Prepare audit work papers as requested for internal and external government audits.
  • Respond to and resolve requests for information, reports, or training.
  • Implement Federal grant Time and Effort system including training end users and internal staff.
  • Review grant proposals and calculations of grant budgets to ensure accuracy of data. Review budget to actual expenses to assist in monitoring status of expenditures for over/under spending.
  • Provide analysis or financial reporting for special projects as assigned.
  • Completes internal AHA and external training courses to improve skills necessary to successfully perform responsibilities.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum two years of experience in the related field
  • Experience in general accounting processes
  • Experience with accounts payable, government grant accounting practices, policies, and audit requirements
  • Experience with automated accounting and finance systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with federal grant accounting and audit requirements
  • Intermediate in Word and Excel
