Database Specialist

Responsible for providing access, training and reports from assigned databases or applications in support of department activities. Responsible for developing, distributing and documenting dashboards and reports including maintaining data integrity, accuracy and relevance for decision making. Additional administrative and reporting responsibilities as assigned.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develop and distribute requested data queries and reports. Manipulate and format reports for analysis and decision making. Use knowledge of database or data warehouse to identify and develop effective reports to respond to requests
  • Maintain data and system integrity through data corrections, quality assurance and testing. Collaborate with system vendor to maintain systems and oversee updates
  • Develop user friendly dashboards and repositories for regular access to reports. May integrate data from other systems to provide more accurate and informative reports for further analysis
  • Provide and maintain report or query documentation, system documentation, and data quality/integrity procedures
  • Operate data warehouse or database system to ensure that information repository is accurate, accessible, and effective for AHA users. Act as system contact and advisor for assigned database repository. Communicate regularly with customers on the status of new and current procedures and accessibility.
  • Update and maintain user guidelines, operating procedures, training guides and trainer documentation. May schedule and lead periodic user meetings to communicate changes in system requirements and usage
  • Ensure data system(s) comply with business technology security requirements and mitigate risk based on applicable laws, regulations and AHA policies.
  • Miscellaneous project and administrative support as required.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's in a similar area a plus
Skills/Experience: 
  • 2-5 years of related experience
  • Experience developing and running database queries
  • Demonstrated ability to produce accurate and timely reports
  • Ability to identify and analyze data and reports for correctness and make modifications as needed
