The American Heart Association has a high-profile opportunity for a National Vice President of Development Innovation & Participant Revenue on our field campaigns team! This individual is responsible for leading the innovation strategy throughout the development/fund-raising arm of the AHA to drive new revenue for the overall organization, as well as leading strategy to accelerate fundraising and engagement for our $250M peer to peer fundraising campaigns.
To be successful in the position, you must be an agile leader and team member with strategic thinking skills and a visionary mindset, who is willing to proactively find solutions to business challenges in the peer to peer space and lead the organization in new ways to discover the next big $100M revenue platform/campaign. The candidate must possess a deep, strategic understanding of the brand’s consumers and a drive to understand how consumers’ needs and business challenges can be addressed in innovative ways that lead to a significant increase in funds to the mission of the organization.
Reporting to the National Vice President of Field Campaigns, the National VP of Innovation and Participant Revenue will manage a team that includes National Directors of Development Innovation and CycleNation.
Location for this position is flexible, with preference for locations that allow for cost effective and efficient travel.
- Develop the overall strategy for reimaging peer to peer fund-raising events; develop overall marketing and field implementation strategies and tactics based on consumer insights and data to increase acquisition and retention of participants
- Lead consumer trends and research efforts to support development strategies, regularly reporting data findings and actionable insights to the field campaign team to drive significant increases in recruitment of new participants as well as increased participation through our current donors and participants
- Develop and execute innovative breakthrough funding models or strategies. Builds innovation pipeline by partnering and leading cross-functional teams to execute idea screens and concept tests to qualify new fund-raising opportunities and campaigns. Develop priorities, monitor test procedures, and analyze external trends to bring new ideas to the AHA
- Recruit a national Innovation committee made up of C-suite executives, specifically Chief Innovation Officers and Chief Marketing Officers as well as others that can drive innovation and breakthrough thinking
- Ensure the success of CycleNation, through scaling the event to multiple markets and ensuring revenue goals are met.
- Works closely with internal and external stakeholders to drive strategy and provide oversight to projects like Heart Walk refresh
- 8-12 years’ experience in roles of similar focus and capacity ($100M + sales or campaign responsibility)
- Experience in various methods and successful track record in event-based fund-raising including marketing and sponsorship
- Experience developing creative business solutions for driving revenue and/or sales
- Employee development and management
- Strong presentation and training skills and prior experience presenting to C-Level Executives
- Computer analytics and customer experience
- Ability to travel up to 50% local and overnight stay
