Sr. Vice President, National Corporate Relations

The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a SVP, NATIONAL CORPORATE RELATIONS at our NATIONAL CENTER office located in DALLAS, TX! The SVP, National Corporate Relations is the leader and the coordinator of American Heart Association’s current and prospective nationwide corporate relationships, and in creating value for them. You will serve as the first point of contact for most corporate partners and the primary communicator of our mission to those national corporate relationships and prospects.

You will be a leader internally, who is able to get the best out of colleagues, as well as an ambassador and relationship manager externally, being a main interface with existing trusted relationships and presenting AHA with conviction and skill to new clients. Your role will also work together with other corporate relations leaders across the Association, especially in the field and global channels.

Finally, you will have revenue goals which you will be expected to secure and deepen nationwide corporate relationships. These relationships will build awareness of the mission and achieve key impact strategies by targeting multiple potential sources of corporate funding (marketing, medical education, research and development, foundations, employee giving, community support, etc.)

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Cultivating innovative relationships with new and existing corporate partners across various industry sectors, including but not limited to healthcare, pharmaceutical, biotech, etc.
  • Creating opportunities of long-term value for our corporate partners that align their business needs, strategies and goals with AHA Impact Goals and strategies.
  • Recommending and implementing comprehensive short and long-term account growth strategies that focus on longstanding partnerships.
  • Reviewing and improving approaches to and processes of business development and member retention continually.
  • Developing business plans to seek new and innovative relationships; develops prospect pipeline.
  • Leading National Corporate Relations in the development of proposals to secure large multi-year, multi-million with nationwide corporations in support of AHA mission related programs and projects.
  • Building the strategy and leadership for National Corporate Relations’ market segment penetration, planning, programs and exceeding revenue goals.
  • Managing a collaborative staff team that works effectively with national and field leaders to achieve high levels of performance.
  • Maintaining strong business relationships with key stakeholder at all levels inside and outside the organization.
  • Working seamlessly across multiple AHA departments to achieve results.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing or a related degree
Skills/Experience:

Required Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in corporate relations, or related role for a non-profit organization.
  • At least five (5) years of successful people management.
  • Proven experience in the following areas:
  • Relationship/account management and business development.
  • Owning and delivering on organizational budgets.
  • Building and maintaining cohesive and strategic partner relationships to grow the business.
  • Ability to ask questions, listen and learn, and engage people in constructive conversation about the key issues facing their organizations.
  • Strong leadership qualities, organizational skills and ability to communicate effectively within organizational structure, as well as externally, and at various levels.
  • Excellent communications, both written and verbal, and demonstrated interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated competence and success in prior assignments, proven team leadership and personal integrity are absolute requirements.
  • Ability to cultivate an atmosphere of trust and transparency.
  • Demonstrated ability in coaching, team-building, and achieving through others.
  • Extensive travel, up to 50% of the time is required.
