Under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer, the Behavioral Specialist will support the teams in the areas of behavior assessment, intervention, plan implementation and monitoring for our Childcare and Camp participants. The Behavioral Specialist focuses on a person-centered approach to ensure each child is treated individually with the child's success as the goal.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Support the Childcare and Camp Directors in managing behavioral incidents and concerns.
- Devise behavior management plans for students to support their success in Y programs.
- Provide assessments, create plans and train staff to be effective in carrying out the behavior plans in each environment.
- Meet with parents and staff to create a collaborative approach to managing behavior for a positive outcome.
- Partner with Regional Directors to ensure open, honest and positive communication and a team approach to problem solving.
- Collect, review and analyze behavior trends.
- Complete required documentation to meet state and local licensing requirements.
- Meet with Department of Human Services representatives or school officials as needed.
- Identify alternative program options for students as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Educational Background:
Bachelors in Behavioral Science required
Skills/Experience:
- 2-4 years of experience in a school or clinical setting working on a team, required
- Experience working with Children on the autism spectrum ages 2-18, preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Must possess a patient and calm demeanor under pressure
- Must be willing to work in various environments consistent with the YMCA
- YMCA Team Leader or Multi-Team/Branch Leader certification preferred
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $45,300.00 - $59,100.00
