Light The Night Campaign Intern, Fundraising

Interns will work a minimum of 10 hours per week (fall and spring) and 20 hours (summer). Internships are available during the spring, summer and fall. Students must own a laptop and be able to arrange transportation to and from LLS office, events, etc. Some events may require the student to work nights or weekends when available. Internships are not paid. Interns who seek college credit for their experience should work with LLS to meet criteria.

Areas of Responsibility: 

The Internship- interns will work closely with the Light The Night staff to develop a work plan that will benefit the campaign, and best utilize their knowledge and skills. Interns will help manage, but are not limited to the following tasks: 

  • Team Thank You Week Planning and Execution (January) 
  • Manage In-Kind Mailing for all campaigns (January)
  • Assist with team recruitment, cultivation and stewardship efforts via phone calls, emails, etc. (February – October) 
  • Assist with Corporate Recruitment Planning and Execution (February – April) 
  • Manage Dress Down Days campaign (March and September) 
  • Assist with Kick Off Planning and Execution (June – August) 
  • Overall campaign support
Educational Background: 
Interns should be college students studying communications, marketing, public relations, non-profit management or a related field.
Skills/Experience: 

Social Work and Human Services students will be accepted if they have an interest or knowledge in fundraising and marketing communications. Successful candidates will have the following qualities and skills: 

  • Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills 
  • Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills 
  • Excellent Interpersonal & Writing Skills
  • Results-oriented 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) 
  • Tech savvy- i.e. Facebook, Twitter, and other social media outlets 
  • Professional demeanor and appearance 
  • Confidentiality with all patient/donor/volunteer information
