The position provides leadership and direction in strategically positioning the World Vision Lanka (WVL) priority technical sectors in programming at all levels; Area Programme (AP), Provincial and National levels while leveraging contribution to maximize child well-being. He/she will oversee sector programming to ensure that it reflects the organizational standards and practices & meets highest technical standards in its programming. In addition the position will build WVL ‘s reputation in all sectors, facilitate innovation in models and approaches of al technical sectors and strengthens WVL ‘s technical capacity.
The position will ensure that the technical sectors are well placed within the WVL, regional and partnership strategies and contribute to the overall child well-being creating multiple benefits through integrated approaches. Integration with Regional and Partnership Quality Ministry community of practice is envisaged
- Strategic Priorities - Define WVL sector visions & sectoral approaches and targets in alignment with National Office and partnership strategy & provide direction and advice for WVL programming at all levels
- Providing Effective and Quality Leadership and guidance to technical sector leads and their subordinates through greater collaboration and integration with other departments
- Networking -Networking nationally and internationally for technical excellence in all core & cross cutting sectors to strengthen the span of influence & advocacy
- Promotes a culture of innovation ,learning & reflection for continuous improvement and facilitate knowledge management
- Ensure WVL has sufficient technical competencies at all levels to deliver Child Well-Being(CWB) out comes
- Develops VW brand and reputation through quality programming, evidence of impact, policy and advocacy related work
- Ensure compliance of all TPs with Child Protection, IT, Admin, HR, Finance & Audit Policies & procedures
- Professional & Personal Development –Demonstrate commitment to WV values & work in collaboration with all stakeholders, pursuing personal & professional development consistent with WV goals & objectives.
- with 5 years’experience in a similar position OR Degree in related discipline with 10 years relevant experience of which at least 3 years in a supervisory role
- Thorough understanding of the development sector; SDG’s, development approaches across sectors World Vision Lanka is engaged in including Health & Nutrition, WASH, Education & Life Skills, Child Protection & participation, Livelihood & Enterprise Development, Gender & Disability, DRR, Climate Change & Environment & donor priorities
- At least 5 years’experience in Program Management in a complex, international organization preferably in NGO context in a leadership role.
- Managed/supervised multi-lateral & bilateral donor funded projects with program expertise in at least one of the key sectors WVL currently focusses on (Health & Nutrition, WASH, Education & Life Skills, Child Protection, Livelihood & Enterprise Development, Gender & Disability, DRR, Climate Change & Environment) preferred
- Proven leadership skills with ability to work well in a team, ability to motivate others, establishes joint accountability and drive excellence.
- Excellent communication skills in English (both oral & written) with ability to communicate in Sinhala and/or Tamil
- IT savvy & well versed in the use of MS Office Suite –Word, Excel & PowerPoint
- Ability & willing to travel domestically & internationally upto 30-40% of the time
- Cross-cultural sensitivity, flexible worldview, and ability to work with a wide range of people from different backgrounds.
- Demonstrated commitment to World Vision’s values and philosophy, and capacity to engage with the broader community in living these values
- In-depth knowledge & experience in WV processes & procedures with a strong understanding of field operations will be preferred
