Communications Coordinator - Media will build strong relationships with both local and international media in order to create new opportunities for the public to engage with World Vision, and for World Vision to influence public opinion on development issues.
The Coordinator will also bring media on board to make a voice in advocating for the needs of the most vulnerable children in Sri Lanka. The media coordinator will work closely with HEA during emergencies and the field offices in collating the best stories for media.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Identify potential key media partners to positively position World Vision and to advocate for social causes related to World Vision’s focus areas.
- Pitch stories and issues for coverage and coordinate media visits to the field.
- Daily analysis of print and online media and manage media crises when occurs.
Educational Background:
Advanced Degree in Communications, Media, or Journalism, or Bachelor degree
Skills/Experience:
- At least 5 Years’ recent experience in media engagement.
- Excellent press release, media advisory and story writing skills.
- Excellent oral and written (English) communications skills and proficiency in local languages ( Sinhala AND/OR /Tamil)
Work Environment/Travel
- Frequently work with external mass media and partners and travel to the field for media visits
- Interact with departments, sectors and projects and operations
- Be able and willing to work flexible/late hours when necessary
- Ability to be deployed to the field at short notice (especially during a disaster response)
