The Construction Site Leader will work on site making certain that the plans and timelines of the Construction Department are carried out as specified and within the safety guidelines established by Habitat for Humanity, on time and on budget under the direction of the Construction Supervisor. Utilize volunteers in a safe and constructive manner and in a way which positively impacts HfHCC. A standard work week for this position is Tuesday through Saturday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Constructing Homes 70%

  • Hands-on construction of homes during the HfHCC work week.
  • Working with other construction staff to provide on-the-job training and supervision for semi-skilled and unskilled volunteers.
  • Making sure necessary tools and materials are on site for specific tasks.
  • Maintaining a safe work site…use of equipment and necessary protective measures for workers.
  • Perform tasks that require a high level of skill in electrical, plumbing and HVAC. Respond to callbacks in a timely fashion, as assigned by the Construction Director and Site Supervisor, and help resolve concerns of existing homeowners while coaching them to take care of owner maintenance items.
  • Inspection of the work of volunteers and sub-contractors to ensure quality and consistency of workmanship as jobs progress.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in proper working order.

Community and Volunteer Relations 20%

  • Assess the abilities of volunteers and teach them proper construction techniques, answer questions and see that all volunteers are kept busy.
  • Identify and empower volunteer construction team leaders.
  • Work at cultivation and stewardship of all volunteers…including further recruitment of any skilled volunteers working on site.

Administration 10%

  • Attend HfHCC meetings as required and complete other assignments as requested
  • Ensure open and complete communication with the main office through efficient and effective use of communication tools.
  • Ensure that administrative duties are carried out in line with HfHCC policies and procedures
