Senior Vice President of Development is sought to manage the Youth Market field campaign for the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association (AHA/ASA) covering the Great Rivers Affiliate, which includes Ohio, Pennsylvania, Delaware, West Virginia and Kentucky. Responsibilities include overall revenue generation accountability of $10M+ net annually, management of the Youth Market fundraising team, integration with mission/health staff and programs across affiliate, and partnership with volunteer leaders, sponsors, internal and external stakeholders, including School District Superintendents and School Principals, to achieve the AHA/ASA mission of building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.

The Senior Vice President of Youth Market will provide supervision and coaching to more than 30 staff members in the execution of fundraising initiatives, primarily through school-centered events, to achieve aggressive revenue goals in support of our mission.

Areas of Responsibility: 

The successful candidate leads, inspires, guides, coaches, trains and manages staff to provide targeted, proactive and effective support for transformational revenue generation and building a deep sponsorship pipeline of new supporters. Frequent travel with staff and volunteers, participating in sales calls, modeling behavior, coaching for success & maintaining accounts and asks personally. Analyzes campaign progress and develops strategies for closing gaps. Monitors financial activities including income, goals, expenditures and annual budget. Builds powerful partnerships with school, corporate and community leaders to build a culture of health to help fund research and education. Serves as member of the Senior Management Team, Senior Revenue Team, and Affiliate Management Team, responsible for working interdependently to service the mission through all aspects of AHA/ASA work. Work location has some flexibility in the Great Rivers Affiliate, and will be required to travel frequently, including overnight stays.

Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university preferred.

Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate is a goal-oriented, inspiring and visionary leader and road warrior, with demonstrated success in achievement of aggressive goals and success developing staff members to achieve their full potential; holds a BS/BA and minimum five years of fundraising/sales experience; minimum three years’ experience supervising a team; volunteer & board management experience; stellar communication, presentation, negotiation, relationship-building, networking and organizational skills, with the capacity to manage the details. Ability to travel throughout five-state region and to national meetings in Dallas. Expected overnight travel of up to 50%.

Required Experience:

  • 5 years of experience in outside sales or in a non-profit organization in a similar sales capacity.
  • 3 years of experience in a management capacity. Experience gained through direct internal work on AHA projects/priorities may substitute for this requirement and will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
