The Deputy Director provides leadership that ensures we meet the mission and goals of HfHNRV. As a non-profit, contribution dependent agency, it is critical for the Deputy Director to demonstrate commitment to and enthusiasm for our mission as we expand organizationally and strategically. The Deputy Director will work closely with the Executive Director to plan and execute all functions of a multifaceted, cost-conscious, public service affiliate of an international charity, Habitat for Humanity International.
Specifically, the Deputy Director will focus on certain administrative functions, public relations, program management and fundraising.
Administrative:
- Follow and implement HfHNRV and HfHI policies
- Comply with and implement financial budgeting and reporting
- Attract, train, and retain staff and volunteers
- Understand and advocate best management practices
- Manage loan administration in compliance with all regulations and with attention to ensuring the financial viability of HfHNRV
- Participate in major administration functions as directed
Fundraising:
- Contribute to planning and implementing annual and long range fund raising plans
- Locate, prepare, and submit applications for grants, gifts, contracts, etc.
- Integrate fund raising with public relations
Public Relations
- Develop and maintain relationships with organizations, businesses, and individuals
- Prepare and distribute regular communications with local and regional public and personal media
- Establish and maintain productive relations with religious, non-profit, and service groups
- Establish and maintain regular communications with volunteers, donors, community leaders, businesses, and others
Family Services
- Organize and manage identification, recruitment, selection, and support of potential homebuyers.
- Manage the volunteer Family Services Committee to ensure appropriate recommendation and support of potential homebuyers
- Organize and administer programs to support homebuyers
Volunteers
- Develop, implement, and mange volunteer recruiting, training and retention
This is a senior leadership position that requires abilities to analyze, organize, synthesize, and evaluate. We expect that successful candidates will have experiences that illustrate these kinds of sophisticated thinking in positions requiring leadership with complex issues. These should include:
- Progressively increased responsibilities in managing personnel/volunteers
- Progressively increased responsibilities in managing projects
- Experience with issues/challenges typical of non-profit organizations
- Competence with standard office and communications software (Microsoft Suite)
