To manage communication efforts in order to engage media, members of the entertainment community, corporate donors and targeted audiences in Feeding America’s priorities.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Manages comprehensive communication strategies and executes tactics to build awareness, consideration and engagement with target audiences for Feeding America’s communication priorities.
- Supports the Director of Communication with writing, editing, brainstorming, event planning and management.
- Drafts Feeding America external facing communication including press releases, key messages, corporate donor and cause-related marketing website content and customizable toolkit materials, with a consistent brand “voice” reflective of Feeding America.
- In partnership with the Director of Communication, prepares, manages and implements communication plan deliverables to promote corporate partner donor announcements, activities and cause marketing programs.
- Supports the Director of Entertainment Industry Relations, by designing newsletters, drafting social media posts, preparing talking points and conducting industry research.
- Manages event prep and logistics as well as on-site communication with Entertainment Council members and/or celebrity talent in attendance.
- Cultivates new relationships with emerging talent and talent representatives for potential engagement with Feeding America.
- Drafts, edits, reviews and/or advises on scripts for talent representing Feeding America.
- Assists in the development of long-range media strategies and provides communication support forcorporate partnerships and programs departments, as well as supports organization’s objectives to mobilize the public and generate awareness for hunger and our brand.
- In collaboration with the Director of Communication, vets and properly coordinates media interviews for spokespeople at Feeding America.
- Coordinates with network members’ local communication contacts for story development, media opportunities and event planning.
- Provides communication support to philanthropy relationship managers, including producing press highlight and social media activity summaries.
- Serves as a communication liaison for various organization projects, coordinating efforts with other marketing and communication department functions, including digital, media relations, entertainment industry outreach, as well as with the nationwide food bank network.
- Manages relationships with external vendors, including design and video production teams, as needed.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's Degree
Skills/Experience:
- Cover letter with resume is required.
- 5 years professional communications experience in a fundraising environment, including higher education or other nonprofit, or with a PR agency.
- Superb editing and proofing skills; excellent oral & written communication skills, specifically for interacting with donor organizations, national office staff, network members and senior management.
- Desire to work in a creative environment.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Personal leadership skills and the ability to work as part of a team; strong project management skills and a customer service focus.
- Proficient in MS Office.
- Committed to organization’s mission of ending hunger.
