The Specialist, Information and Internal Processes position is responsible for investigating, gathering, and improving the creation, management, and analysis of information within the Compliance and Capability Department. The position works to create more efficient use of department and Feeding America resources to assess and build the capacity of our Network as well as provide timely information and insights into current and emerging work. The Specialist will be required to fully integrate into the department, understand the major objectives of each position, and the overall goals of the organization.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Salesforce Migration/Development:

  • Develop project plan to transition current databases and uncatalogued information into Salesforce.
  • Work with IT and Data Analytics Departments to migrate data, design entry forms, error controls, reports, and automated sequences for Compliance and Capability workflows.
  • Create and implement documentation, manuals or training guides for department staff.

Ongoing Data Collection and Management:

  • Create feedback, update and request processes to support department data needs.
  • Continuously review feedback, provide support, maintain, and improve Salesforce implementation.
  • Manage ongoing data connections to and from primary databases.
  • Identify opportunities for different or new reports which present data in more helpful formats.

Internal Process Management:

  • Identify repetitive or redundant tasks, across the department, that can be automated or otherwise made more efficient.
  • Work with the department, and in partnership with IT, to design process improvement by consolidation, automation, or improved workflows.
  • Document, pilot, and manage ongoing plans for improvements within specified timelines.
  • Implement the final product by providing training and ongoing support, as needed, for improvements.

.Goal Tracking and Insights:

  • Create department-related dashboards that allow both efficient overview and in-depth analysis of individual and department goals.
  • Maintain, and continuously seek ways to improve internal goal metrics.
  • Work with inter-departmental staff to analyze data, identify insights and emerging trends.

Administrative tasks (As Needed):

  • Assist in department meetings through scheduling, cataloging WebEx conference calls, creating/cataloging/tracking decisions, timelines, follow-up and goal progress.
  • Provide administrative support to Vice President of Compliance and Capability for specific projects/requests.
  • Provide timely support for disaster relief, crisis management or other time-sensitive projects.
Educational Background: 
BA/BS Degree or equivalent experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • 5+ years of experience in data and information management, including ongoing management and improvement of data year over year.
  • 5+ years of experience in project management, including all aspects of problem identification, project design, documentation, execution, and transitions to maintenance.
  • Proficiency in Salesforce use or similar database reporting and form design.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Access and Excel) and Acrobat Professional.
  • Ability to rapidly learn the basics of new software/applications, assess various data sources, apply standardization to data formats, review/clean data errors, and design data error prevention measures.
  • Excellent oral and written communication that demonstrates courtesy, patience, and completeness.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both summary and detailed formats.
  • Ability to provide prompt, time-oriented management of multiple tasks and projects.
  • Ability to manage confidential or sensitive information with consistency and integrity.
  • Experience working with Tableau, Power BI, ArcGIS, or SharePoint.
  • Experience writing business requirements, or information flow/process design.
  • Strong skills in report-based and form-based design.
  • Proficiency in managing electronic files, file and folder nomenclature, file format conversions.
  • Experience working with complex systems requiring strong analytical and process skills.
  • Experience thinking creatively and strategically solving problems as part of a team and within broad coalitions.
