Lead successful FANO produce sourcing and demand planning; plus all operational service and administration, for the network and cooperatives to hit annual growth targets.   Provide extraordinary leadership for the team and other stakeholders to ensure consistent vision and strategic objectives are understood and actionable – drives for results

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Manages a team of sourcing and demand experts to execute on FANO designated efforts and to also monitor network-wide sourcing execution; assigns team based on network needs and current conditions.
  • Responsible for all operational processes and execution as it pertains to sourcing, demand planning, billing or other administration; innovates to improve overall service and also adoption of FANO tools/processes.
  • Tracks and manages with team the weekly and monthly progress of pounds, costs, and other relevant data points; analyzes ad-hoc performance data; synthesizes multiple inputs to tell story and drive action; oversees routine reporting.
  • Works closely with transportation team to understand impact of freight costs on overall sourcing execution and output; supports freight strategy development in order to synchronize supply with demand. 
  • Ensures team can provide direct customer interaction and resolves donor and member operational issues.
  • Key support for the supply/demand model strategy; understands robust supply/demand produce market (volume, costs, seasons, etc.); creates a schedule of supply and one of demand, in order to lay out a consolidated annual schedule by month; is highly knowledgeable regarding state of Hard7.
  • Drives process improvement, simplification and adoption of Produce Matchmaker, NetSuite, etc.
  • Supports regional engagement managers to align local, state or regional sourcing strategies as it pertains to supply and demand, by region and by commodity.
  • Manage budgets, P&L; looks for opportunities to lower costs of commodities.
  • Drive key program initiatives to achieve core Key Performance Indicators of pounds and cost per pound.
  • Expected travel 25-40%.
Educational Background: 
BA/BS in related field or equivalent experience. MA preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • 10+ years in the fresh produce industry – category/procurement management preferred.
  • 10+ years direct management experience; developing direct reports and setting goals in alignment with company strategy.
  • 10+ years in customer service and process improvement.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Excellent written and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Food bank or food pantry experience a plus.
