Reporting to the Director of Individual Giving, the Regional Gift Officer will be responsible for overseeing the fundraising activities of four Y individual membership centers. This role will work in the field and will partner extensively with Center team members, specifically Executive Directors, to create, implement and evaluate annual fundraising plans and to effectively recruit, retain and engage local board members. The Regional Gift Officer will interface, collaborate and build vital relationships with community leaders, individuals and networks with the goal of increasing the donor base and fundraising success for the Buehler YMCA, Sage YMCA, Lattof YMCA, and Foglia YMCA.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Mission Advancement

  • Partner closely with the Executive Directors of each assigned Center to determine annual fundraising goals and strategies. Develop fundraising proposals and cases of support for each Center to communicate the need and impact of fundraising efforts.
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward individual gifts, with an emphasis on gifts of $1,000 or more, for YMCA fundraising priorities. Develop and maintain a pipeline of prospects and donors and identify strategies to renew, upgrade and maintain philanthropic contributions to each Center.
  • Create a long-term strategy to identify and cultivate current donors and new prospects who have the capacity and inclination to make gifts of $10,000 or more.
  • In partnership with the Director of Development Operations, develop the appropriate reports to track fundraising progress.
  • Play a leadership role in the execution of the YMCA’s Annual Campaign, including providing training opportunities for local Center staff and volunteer board members.
  • In partnership with the Stewardship Manager, create and implement a comprehensive and meaningful stewardship plan for assigned Centers.
  • Provide guidance and support on the execution of any special events related to the assigned Centers.
  • Manage local Boards associated with each Center and inspire members to be advocates, ambassadors and supporters of the Y and its mission.
  • Participate in external community organizations to raise the visibility of the YMCA.

Child Abuse Prevention

Supports the YMCA’s commitment to child abuse prevention by:

  • Reporting any items that may provide a health or safety hazard to staff, members or guests to your supervisor
  • Following all policies and procedures related to keeping children safe in our facilities and programs, including those related to the monitoring and supervision of children
  • Reporting any suspicious behavior and violation of policy and procedures to your supervisor
  • Completing all child abuse prevention training as required
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in related field and/or equivalent experience
Skills/Experience: 
  • Accomplished professional with 3-5 years or more of individual giving fundraising experience.
  • Passion and commitment to the YMCA’s mission of youth development, healthy living and social responsibility
  • Strong knowledge of fundraising best practices and ability to monitor and adapt trends and best practices where appropriate to enhance Mission Advancement efforts. Demonstrated track record of setting and meeting/exceeding specific goals within the expected time period.
  • Demonstrated capacity to build sustainable, philanthropic relationships with volunteers and with donors that directly influences higher giving over time.
  • Demonstrated consulting skills with superior verbal, written and presentation skills and the ability to adapt communication to the appropriate audience. Strong writing skills are essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to take accountability for results, take initiative, as well as be adaptable, resilient, highly organized, and detail-oriented.
  • Demonstrated collaboration and influencing skills with the ability to foster trust both internally and externally.
  • Ability to travel locally as needed to support mission advancement activities
  • Demonstrates evidence of YMCA Team Leader competencies in previous experience or practice.
