Direct the development and execution of a measurement and evaluation strategy to support the fundraising, food sourcing and distribution consulting efforts of the Strategic Capacity Development team.  Work to lead, build and manage data collection, data analysis and assessment capabilities for the Strategic Capacity Development team.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Serve as a leader in the development of food bank capacity-building pilot efforts in fundraising, food sourcing, and client access; lead the identification and analysis of data to direct development of future capacity-building services.
  • Direct the design, piloting, implementation and evaluation of a comprehensive self-assessment of capacity needs for food banks, working in collaboration with Member Engagement, Innovation, Programs and Research.
  • Direct the design, piloting, implementation and evaluation of a repository of best practices and tools designed to support food bank capacity building, working with Network Learning & Engagement, Programs, Innovation and Member Engagement.
  • Design structure for team of service design, evaluation and data analysis/project management staff; Hire and supervise future staff.
  • Create framework for capacity-building data collection, analysis and evaluation; define and refine measures of success for capacity-building services provided to members.
  • In critical and complex collaborative projects, lead consulting projects to help build and grow critical strategic capabilities across the network. Implementation of customized services for network members will build on a deep partnership approach that includes: Conducting personal interviews with key internal and external constituents; Tracking quantitative and qualitative findings; Analyzing network members strategic plans, internal and external compliance and capability analysis; relevant functional processes, organization structure, staffing, resources, budget, volunteer structure, and relevant information systems; Preparing written analysis and recommendations; and presenting findings to network member CEOs/EDs, board members and senior food bank staff.
  • Identify data resources available at FANO and partner with Network Data & Analytics and Research to ensure that the most applicable data is leveraged in designing, implementing and evaluation capacity-building services.
  • Build custom tools to capture and analyze information related to capacity-development services.
  • Manage relationships with vendors attained to support strategic capacity development launch and implementation.
  • Serve as a key thought partner and contributor to roll out and staged growth of strategic capacity development, helping to define core questions and imagine innovative approaches to answering them.
  • Create and disseminate reports on the impact of strategic capacity development on the network.
  • Collaborate with colleagues at other national federated non-profit organizations on capacity-building and represent Feeding America at convenings of these organizations.
  • Recruit and manage the engagement of network advisors helping to shape capacity-building service design and evaluation.
Educational Background: 
BA/BS or relevant experience
Skills/Experience: 
  • 5+ years’ professional experience with progressive responsibilities managing data analysis, preferably at non-profit organization

Required Technical Competencies and Experience

  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills, including ability to manipulate, analyze, and interpret data using tools such as SQL, Excel and Tableau.
  • Ability to document policies and procedures and communicate complex technical information.
  • Highly proficient in Excel; Proficiency in Tableau preferred
  • Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, verbal and written communication skills.
