The mission of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) is to cure cystic fibrosis and to provide all people with the disease the opportunity to lead full, productive lives by funding research.  We have invested hundreds of millions of dollars into CF research and drug development, the results of these bold investments have been astonishing. A few decades ago, most people with CF didn’t live long enough to attend elementary school. Today, many people born with CF are living into their 30s, 40s, and beyond.

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the world’s leader in the search for a cure for cystic fibrosis, and one of the most innovative and successful organizations of its kind is seeking a Development Director in our Chicago, IL Chapter office.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develop fundraising plans and budgets for assigned events; and engaging in short-term/long-term revenue planning
  • Plan, manage and execute the Tomorrows Leaders program (young professionals’ group), Chicago’s magnificent campaign; and the Annual Fund).
  • Launch new events, campaigns, initiative and/or programs – is this standard?
  • Engage in continuous short-term and long-term revenue planning – this seems like the same as the first bullet. Maybe we could merge?
  • Coordinate a minimum of (6) cultivation events for Tomorrow’s Leaders throughout the year, as well as recruitment, retention and cultivation of members.
  • Plan & implement a year-round cultivation strategy, including mailings & cultivation events for the chapter’s top donors, teams, volunteers and participants.
  • Manage the chapters annual fund program, including, but not limited to meeting with donor prospects and existing donors to cultivate long-term relationships and create, manage and execute a strategy for a large sustained base of annual individual donors.
  • Manage the chapters Chicago’s Magnificent fundraising campaign (a ten-week fundraising competition) including but not limited to recruitment & cultivation of honorees, recruitment and management of campaign committee and planning and execution of the celebration event.
Educational Background: 
Four-year degree or equivalent education/experience
Skills/Experience: 
  • 5+ years of fundraising/sales experience
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong volunteer recruitment and management skills
  • Availability to work nights and weekends as necessary to attend meetings and events
  • Strong networking, community engagement and relationship building skills
  • A team player – comfortable working in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to meet deadlines, strength in attention to detail
  • Someone with passion who is motivated and driven to contribute to the overall mission of our Foundation
