To design, develop, document, test, and debug software programs and applications with a focus on data. This includes participation in the full life cycle of an application from requirement gathering to documentation to development. The Database Programmer/Analyst will function both as a technically focused business analyst and as a user facing application developer.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Takes a lead role in collaborating with end-users, business partners, programmers, analysts, and designers in the development and initiation of new software programs and applications.
- Design, document specifications, reviews code flow, code, tests, and peer-review application program code to ensure functionality and appearance of applications meets requirements.
- Writes, translates, codes, and tests software programs and applications according to specifications for projects of all sizes.
- Manages the quality assurance process of program code and program logic, data processing, and error resolution.
- Takes an active role in cross-departmental projects.
- Interacts with directors, managers, clients, vendors, and agencies to field queries and questions and respond in a timely manner for prompt rectification of problems, emergencies or general inquiries.
- Executes and monitors recurring performance tests on new and existing software for the purposes of correcting mistakes, isolating areas for improvement, diagnostic analysis, general debugging and statistics.
- Develops and maintains user and technical manuals, guidelines and flow diagrams.
- Designs and takes a leadership role to collaborate with network administrators, systems analysts, programmers, other software engineers, and vendors to resolve defects in software products or custom systems (hardware, software, or database).
- Works closely with non-technical staff to understand and document needs and desired outcomes and then helps to translate those into technical requirements and designs.
- Installs software products for technical or end-users as required and in conformance with standards.
- Serves as subject matter expert on existing and emerging application development software products, languages, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts.
- Cultivates and disseminates knowledge of application development best practices.
- Assist with developing and managing budgets for departmental strategies and technical projects.
Educational Background:
BA/BS or equivalent experience.
Skills/Experience:
- 5+ years’ equivalent work experience.
- Technical expertise with programming languages used to develop and support applications within the Feeding America National Office. Working familiarity with ASP.Net, JQuery, XTML/XHTML, CSS.
- Extensive database and operating systems experience. Solid knowledge and experience working with SQL. Working familiarity with Windows Server, Windows 8, SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS a Plus.
- Competent and proficient understanding of business tools and platforms.
- Working familiarity with ERP and CRM, particularly NetSuite and SalesForce, systems a plus.
- Experience working with Cloud-based systems and databases.
- Extensive hands-on software troubleshooting experience. Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.
