Communication Coordinator

Contributes to the execution and development of communication projects; manages network news channels; assists with writing and editing of communication materials.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Support the Director of Communication and Donor Stewardship through writing and editing assignments, researching and sourcing topics and data for content development, creating PowerPoint slides, and compiling other forms of communication as needed.
  • Manage organizational communication vehicles, including but not limited to assembling, editing and disseminating two bi-weekly digital newsletters; maintaining Communication department intranet content; and facilitating email communication to national office and network staff through iContact.
  • Work with the Managers of Communication on writing and editing annual report content and contributing to quarterly donor impact reports; and helping to coordinate and streamline national office communication to the food bank network as needed.
  • Participate in Communication department projects as needed, including developing conference sessions; providing executive, donor and network communication support; proofreading and editing; progress reporting and managing the communication department inbox.
Educational Background: 
BA/BS or relevant experience
Skills/Experience: 
  • 2+ years professional / internship experience in planning and delivering effective communications solutions and projects within defined resources and timeframes

  • Collaborates Internally and Externally – Ability to collaborate across a variety of internal communication leaders as well as partner and engage across various departments as needed.

Required Technical Competencies and Experience

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Knowledge of AP Style is a plus.
  • Ability to be highly organized and meet deadlines while managing multiple projects and maintaining quality
  • The ability to work as part of a team and independently; strong project management skills and a customer-service focus.
  • Critical-thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Non-profit experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint
